Morphine as a Stimulant?

so i am pretty big into opiates.
when i take any kind of opiate. whether it be syrup, hydrocodone, methadone, or morphine.
i am unable to go to sleep.
its been this way ever since i started taking pills.
now, it does make me want to close my eyes like i'm going to sleep but when i do i lay there in absolute bliss but not asleep however. and i can open my eyes and be completely aware of whats going on at any point.
but i can never fall into a normal sleep. is it like this for anybody else?

 

i definitely do not want to go to sleep in the middle of a nice high,because i want to enjoy it, but i can fall asleep pretty well when i am in that afterglow stage. And i always get a real solid night sleep too

 

Insomnia is a common side effect of opiates, but not everyone gets it. Some people have trouble staying awake on them, but an observation of mine is that people who are into them get a charge, or burst of euphoric energy out of them. When I'm op'ed up, I have no desire to sleep through that beautiful feeling. I get that same thing where I can lay there and feel good, nod off a bit but not fall into deep sleep. I guess it's due to the dopamine rush or something. They also can induce a semi-manic state in some people.

I find morphine very soothing and rather sedating. Oxycodone has a more stimulating effect than the others since it's derived from Thebaine, the only alkaloid of opium that has stimulant properties. I can get a great nod on oxy, but not really sleep all that great, but morphine, hydrocodone and codeine allow me to drift off nicely after the initial high fades out. Maybe try smoking some herb when the opiate high starts to wind down and you might get sleepy?! Works for me! -Peace

 

the only opiate ive ever fallen asleep on was around 300mg of codeine, ive never found oxy stimulating but i still cant sleep, its like im in that tired state when ur half awake but still not sleeping while i nod in and out, just never fully asleep

 

I take 50mg of morphine, 3 10mg lortabs or a 80 mg oxy and im good to go all night. Especially if im drinkin (and i usually am)

Oxycodone always keeps me up. I take it at 6pm and can't get to sleep until 6am sometimes. I personally think it's because I would HATE to miss any of my buzz by sleeping...that is a huge waste IMO.

 

Likewise, with oxy I can't sleep. Morphine's a whole different story though. For a while I was taking about 150mg's a day and I've never slept so much in my life. 16 hours a day! Wake up, snort some lines, chill for an hour, and then fall asleep for a couple more hours. I attributed that to morphine always being more of a body high for me.

 

Opiates keep me awake as well. Also, when I finally do to decide to sleep, I am guarenteed a visit from the hypnogogic hallucination fairy

Question...

I've been shooting dope for about six months now & currently, at this moment, I'm doing two roxy 30s. I was just pondering... can I actually shoot a 60mg morphine pill? I have a few but I've never seen anyone shoot them nor am I going to risk my life doing it myself as a guinea pig.

Uhm, I'm not sure really. It has an M on one side and 60 on the other. They're orange pills.

Nah. That isn't it. It actually almost looks like Roxy. It just has an M with a square around it on one side and then on the other it has a line through it with 60 imprinted on it.

I've tried shooting that exact pill in the 30mg variety. It gels up if you try and heat it. I don't know about not using heat.

MS-Contin®

Morphine Sulfate Controlled-Release: 15 mg, 30 mg, 60 mg, 100 mg, and 200 mg Tablets. Another, probably better method is explained in Better MS-Contin® Injection.

1. Wash the color off the pill.
2. Put it on a tablespoon and add 1.4 mls of water. (Use a 1 cc insulin syringe, 1 full syringe of water plus 40 units more).
3. Heat the water with a lighter until the pill JUST starts to dissolve on the edges.
4. Stop heating. Mash the pill thoroughly with the end of the plunger, mixing with the water.
5. Reheat the mixture just a little! Until the wax floating on top is melted again. Don't EVER heat so much that it boils. (The second heating is very short, it takes some practice. If you have heated too long you will find that the mixture is too thick and hard to draw up. In this case add a drop of water and reheat a little).
6. Blow the waxy stuff off to the side of the spoon gently.
7. If it is heated just right, you blow on the wax and it all floats over to the side very easily. At this point the mixture should also have cooled down a little. Draw up the liquid, staying away from the wax. If you blew it to the side and it has cooled, it will not go into the syringe. You may find toward the end a little bit of thicker stuff. Take your time and it will draw up too. With practice the whole thing takes about two minutes. Good luck!

 

60mg of Oxycodone gets you high, and you shoot dope? Jesus, it takes me about 120mg of Oxycodone IV to get a decent rush, and I have never even TRIED dope.

Tolerance sucks.

 

God I am so glad to hear that someone else feels the same way I do. People on this forum are always talking about taking opiates in order to get to the nod, as if the falling asleep part were the best part. the best part is the high, and I don't ever want to miss a single minute of it and waste it.

I feel the same as the OP, too. I take OC every day for chronic pain and it keeps me up. I haven't gotten a really good night's sleep without waking up at least once or twice for about two years. and usually i sleep at most 3-5hrs a night.

Me too. Each of my 3 back surgeries this year, I took an OC20 1 hour before surgery. Then they made me take 7.5/350 Oxycodne an hour after surgery. Each of the three times I was up until 6-7am. Grr..
