so.... this is in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Monterey Pops Festival
it is REALLY sing-songey, which I don't particularly like, but when I think of what happened in Monterey, it really makes me happy...... so enjoy this light-hearted and simplistic poem of appreciation

    Oh the days of revolution!
    Change is in the air
    A straight forward Evolution
To the hip from the square

    Flower crowns and tamborines
As far as eyes can see
    Peace, love, and happiness
    The mantra of the Free

    The scent of fresh patchouli
    Hanging thick in the air
    Acid, shrooms, and mary-jane
    Taken Freely everywhere

    The music blares so loudly
Tune in, turn on, drop out
The crowd is dazed and confused
    As Joplin begins to shout

    Country Joe is Flyin' High
Hendrix sets fire to his guitar
    This festival--a melting pot
Of those from near and far

    Different cultures, creeds, and styles
Living in the land of Free
    All differences forgotten
    Everyone there-- Just to BE
