Yipes! We just watched this and I am still shaking. What a powerful and disturbing movie. I don't do well with rape scenes (they keep replaying in my mind and I can't shut them off) I wish I had known so I could have left the room. What a horrible life this womyn had. How sad. How sad for a couple of her victims (although, if her story is to be believed, at least one did deserve it.)

Charlize Theron was amazing and scary. Christina Ricci was also fantastic.

Don't watch this if you spook easily, it is very graphic.

    Anyone else see this.

yeah i saw it not too long ago. it made me cry but that doesn't take much. it was really sad how she was abused like that all her life. she was driven to it, but it was horrible seeing how she killed some of those men in seemingly cold blood. charlize theron and christina ricci were really good in this. its scary how good that make up was too.

omg i just saw that yesterday!! charlize theron is an amazing actress! i cant think of anyone else who would be able to play that role that well. that was a very powerful movie, and the fact that it was based on a true story was sooo sad. i really liked it, though.

I have seen thousands of films in my life.

Yet, Charlize Theron has achieved, in the movie 'Monster', the most powerful performance that I have ever seen by an actress on film. More powerful than Emma Thompson's remarkable performance in 'Wit'.

I've known women on the street, desperate, loud, confussed, playing hard while tottering on the edge, but I never thought that any actress, certainly no Hollywood actress, could ever be real enough to bring that spirit to life on film.
Charlize Theron has proved me wrong.

Funny, because nothing that Charlize has done before has ever stood out in my mind. I didn't even know who I was watching. I had to go back to the credits to find out who this woman was.
For me, Charlize came out of nowhere.

And Christina Ricci? Everything that Christina has done has impressed me. And her performance in 'Monster' is no exception.
In short, if Christina's name is on the credits, I know that I want to see it.

Strong movie, yet not an exceptional story. Movies which are based on a real story are always better, and it was a good watch, but nothing spectacular. Theron is a wonderful actress, she acted the part wonderfuly. Ritchie also acted well, yet no supreme performance from her.

The story itself could have been portraid more dramaticly.
