I don't understand the fascination with miracles. A miracle is something that happens that defies logic and understanding, an amazing unexplained event. People get upset when we try to explain them. But that makes no sense. Why would anyone want to live in a world that is totally random, where the laws of physics can be violated at any time for any purpose by some god-being? Where even the laws of cause-effect are suspended? What a frightening, topsy-turvy world, there'd be no normalcy, no order. People think it's great that it is said that God made the sun stand still, or dance in the sky? Thats the scariest shit ever, considering what would have to happen for that to occur. The earth would have to stop in it's tracks, no rotation, no moving around the sun. Really, we'd probably be flung off the Earth, but whatever. For the sun to dance around, either the Earth, a large thing it itself, or the Sun, unimaginally massive, would have to, at random, move out of it's normal orbit. Horror! Isn't the most miraculous thing the fact that we live in an ordered place, governed by constancy? Laws of Physics that don't just up and change, or cease for a while? Whatever your religion, wouldn't THIS be more a sign of god than a random, scary miracle-laden universe?
Mircales can and do happen. Every day. If we look then we can find them. I don't like your definition though, I see a miracle as something that defies belief. Some philosophers contend that miracles are impossable if the definition of a miracle is something that happens contrary to physical laws. If anything happens which is contrary to physical laws, It can not be contrary to physical laws for once it happens it Is physically possible and so not contrary.

Some miracles may be just stories - tales, exagerrations. Some may be genuine accounts of things unexplained and seemingly inexplicable - as yet. But perhaps thats because our view of the order of the universe is limited. Its not that chaos would have to prevail to accept miracles in that sense. Just that we don't understand how they could work. But some stories of miracles seem to be based wholly on a very primitive view of the world. The story of Joshua commanding the sun to stand still is a production of flat-earthers if ever I saw one. I doubt anyone today would think up that particular miracle. But also, as others say, life itself is the real miracle. The fact we're here at all. And the greatest miracle of all is love.
