One of my best companions died today, my dog Miles. He was the sweetest, most loving dog. My dad got him for my eleventh birthday
He died today and I dont even know why
he was in perfect health just a couple of days ago
Well, two days ago he came up to the house with blood on his chest
he had broken one of his teeth and it was bleeding
My dad took him to the vet but the vet was too fucking busy to do anything about it but told my dad he would need to have a small surgery to remove the rest of the tooth and stitch up the gums
but the vet didnt have any fucking time, no he had to neuter another dog when there was a bleeding dog standing there right in the lobby of his clinic
He should have made time to take care of a dog in pain and not ignore him
Well, so the vet said he would be fine and just needed to relax until he could get his surgery
I felt so bad for Miles last night he was bleeding and whimpering a little in pain
but there wasnt much we could do, it was late at night and he had a surgery appointment scheduled for today
Today he went to get the "simple" surgery and while they were stitching up his gums he died right there
and the vets dont even have an explaination
    thats what angers me
and that yesterday the vet didnt have time because he was too fucking busy with another animal with no life threatening condition.
    He was only seven
I just cant believe he's gone

    I'm so sorry :(

I'm suspicious, a bit, if they went a little heavy on the meds that make them go to sleep for surgeries. I worked for a vet once that misjudged the amount to use, the dog was in there for a teeth cleaning. It was a combination of the dog being older and more sensitive to that stuff than most dogs. But the dog died as a result. It does happen, more than people think, and it is usually an accident.

However, that veterinarian sounds very irresponsible if he did not take care of your dog over a scheduled surgery for something that was non-lifethreatening. I would file a complaint about the veterinarian, and report him for animal neglect to the authorities.

    **hugs** I am so sorry.

    I'm sorry for your loss.
    sweet dreams Miles

On another note I have my dogs pre-tested before any surgery. Even if they had it a month ago I have it done. Here it costs about $35.00 but well worth it. Your vet owes you an explanation.
    Again I'm sorry.

I'm sorry for your lost. I have had to had some of my dogs put down due to disease and have lost some due to the natural process of old age. It is never easy to lose a family member which a pet is. It would be nice if you could get answers from the vet, but getting the answers will not bring your pal back. However, if you feel that reporting this incident might help other pet owners from getting the same service that you did and save a future pet I would go for it. Sweetie, all things die. It is just a fact of life. I truly believe that the one that dies is in a better place, it is the one's left behind that have to adjust. I hate to say the old cliche of time heals everything, but it does. The problem is it takes a long time for this process. In the meantime, focus on the great memories you have and remember the life you gave this wonderful pet. Wherever this friend is now, he is smiling thinking about the wonderful life you and your family gave him. Remember this experience and put it to use in your own life, "Life is not a dress rehersal", we never know when our last day on earth is. Just enjoy it to the most. I actually envy pets, because I feel they have this instinct built in. Your baby knew you were there with him when he needed you. He is at peace now and maybe there is a lesson he left behind for you to learn. I believe we all meet the people and pet's in life that give us something we need in our future. You will always have great memories of this pet and therefore, he will always be with you.

I'll be thinking of you and you will get through this. In the meantime, think about what I said earlier. Does this vet need to be reported to keep this from happening to another pet owner?
