I thought it was nice I think the president and his family should be more accessible to the people. So the people can relate to their leader and see he is a person and that he enjoys the things we do.

The Oscars are a joke. The title of First Lady is a joke. It makes perfect sense.

The U.S. has traditionally embraced concepts such as the separation of federal powers and not melding religion with the federal government. Melding the federal government with Hollywood movies with political overtones goes against the grain of that tradition. Argo was a movie about the CIA and the Iran hostage crisis. The government starts taking on fascist overtones when it engages in a veiled melding of the media and government. It's similar to when the Bush administration hired Tony Snow of Fox News to be the press secretary of the White House. There are rules and laws in business that prohibit such behavior because it represents a conflict of interest.

Using the Michelle event to make veiled racial slurs isn't a solution. That pits one group against another. And it's not being done in a playful way, such as trying to promote healthy competition between groups. Some of the people who make such slurs are the same ones who are accusing others of polarizing the country and not letting people be people.

I was not trying to be racist, since I said it in good humor and don't have a problem joking about that kind of thing unless I know it's going to offend someone, which it probably will. Perhaps if I was truly racist, then I would have a guilty conscience. Basically I was just following Orison's lead.

Was she chosen because they knew that particular film won, or was it just a coincidence a political film won? Perhaps they were hoping 'Lincoln' would win.

Did the White House fund 'Argo'?

    What's the conflict of interest?

A conservative journalist and political commentator, becomes a conservative governments spin doctor. What ever next.
