I have tried meditating before. At the time I made sure my sleeping habits were normal because I was also trying to have lucid dreams. I had some success but this was short lived. I soon fell back into my regular habits and stopped meditating. Now I have very irregular sleeping habits. I often stay up until 4-5 am and sleep until 2 pm or I don't sleep at all and then fall asleep at 8-9 pm. Other times ill go to sleep at 11 pm and get up at 6 am. There's really no pattern with me. Could I meditate regularly with my hectic internal clock or should I try to sleep more regularly?

You can meditate whenever you wish, making it part of your routine would be the best routers take. Why do you stay up so late? Don't you have school to go to?

On weekdays I usually fall asleep at around midnight or 1 am and then have to get up at 6 am. I spend most school days in a tired haze although I still manage to get a 3.75 GPA. Weekends are when I really overdo it and I just wont sleep on Sunday night.

Just meditate a little - like a half an hour every 24 hours doesn't matter when. Don't and I fucking mean do not meditate alot while keeping such a shitty sleep schedule or you'll go out of your mind manic depressive bonkers. I am not joking.

Some meditation every time period (notice I am not saying every day or every night) is good for respiration, relaxation, stress relief, letting go of tension, integration, and so on. More than that and you'll start winding back up and overthinking and if you notice yourself winding up, thinking more, being manic then stay the fuck away from meditation. Instead do some chanting. A very mimimal amount on your deity of choice, again just a small bit per diem.

It's always good to feed the soul every day a bit, people feed everything else like their gossip glands, their eyeballs, their masturbation edification, their stomachs, they eat crap, watch crap, think crap talk crap.

It's good to for just a few solid minutes to feel good about life from within.

Hey Blindguy, do yourself a favor and listen to Chodpa. I learned the hard way in September. Went a week with little sleep and meditation; I lost my; self - sense of it. Lost my mind. It was only labor day, just a day, I thought years went by. It was messed up.

Try taking melatonin at night. Mixing it with some chamomile and damiana tea helps. Start with 1mg a night. If after a week it doesn't work up the dose to 2mg and so on. Starting at day one with the 1mg dose meditate only at night in complete darkness.

If after 28 days the melatonin doesn't seem to be helping try adding 50mg of 5htp to your diet after breakfast. Don't stop taking the melatonin but start over with 1mg.

If that doesn't work try increasing the dose of 5htp to 100mg.

If that still doesn't work try 100mg of 5htp after breakfast, and gradually raise the dose of melatonin. Do not exceed 5mg of melatonin.

Once your sleep schedule has been normal for 28 days, it'll be time to slowly reduce the doses of all medicine. The reduction and length of time will depend greatly on the medicines and dosage.

eliminating daytime use of cannabinoids will also help.

Try to stay away from inverse cannabinoids.
