there´s a book called "Zig Zag Zen" that deals with this very same subject. it also talks about psychedelics and buddhism, things like that. i bought it a while ago as a gift for someone, and it was terribly difficult to give it away. perhaps i´ll get it again some day. but check it out - you´d probably dig it.

yeah ive also heard of similar books, about psychadelic drugs being used by Tibetan Buddhist monks im pretty sure, for meditation purposes. But personally, i love meditation, and ive done it with marijuana, 90% of the time it hasnt had a positive impact, however that other 10% it has been sooo beautiful and like someone said its revealing, keeps me honest i spose. But yeah thats all from me, Vibes.

Well that's defeating the point of the entire process.

Each of us has to get to the end of the road by ourselves, you will never get furthur than a certain point if you use drugs.

The point of meditation is that you change yourself with yourself - you come to a greater awareness of yourself.

How can you come to a hightened state of awareness if you are intentionally clouding your mind.

    Blessings

marijuana is a gift from the earth...some find they dont like how they feel after smoking it ..this may be the case for you..therefore you shouldnt do it.... but others see it differently ..respect it as sage burning ..tea to drink or soothing music...no one ever mentioned "drugs" only you which shows me a lack of knowledge of what marijuana is ...it heals...my friend ..maybe your eyes need a little opening ..maybe not either way ..telling your way of meditation would be apropriate not nockin others beliefs.....may the sun shine on ya...me

I'm with Sebbi on the this one, long term, smokin blow or doing other drugs ruins your attention span and your ability to be mindful and although when stoned you might think it's aiding you meditation, long term it defeats the whole purpose of meditation which is to carry the mindfulness from your meditation into your daily life which you won't be able to do unless you are binned out of it all the time. I'm not some anti-drug stiffo. I smoke myself at the weekends, but am not delusional enough to think it's going to aid my meditation practise.

first off i can tell you dont meditate,,, go eat some e...with your buddy at the illegal rave ...then come tell me about ..one of the earliest most worldwide used tools in meditation is herb wether it be sage...or any other traditional herbs..so before you tell all of your wordly wisdom....read a book or listen to music...and learn a little...i never said everyone should smoke to aid in meditation ... but i will say you are delusional.....

also meditation can be had in many ways not just the traditional sitting indian style with your eyes closed chanting...so anyway i dont want to be defensive but you should assume people delusional...

i guess it is different for everybody... my experiences have been like positive vibes, where very few of my pot experiences were really truely meditative but the ones i did have were amazing.... for me, the deeply spiritual experiences i've had always just sordove happen to me, i wasnt thinking or fretting about raising awareness, it just happened and there i was... i wasnt really intently set out on doing anything like watching my breath or repeating mantra or watching my thoughts, which is what sordove comes to my mind when i think about meditation, which i don't really see myself getting into too much after getting high... its different for everybody though, just experiment and find out for yourself... thats where its all at , is within yourself...

i think there is definatley some connection between spiritual growth and drugs for some people though and no doubt that certain drugs in psychadelic nature like pot, LSD, mushrooms, etc.. can open your mind and deepen your understanding to a new way of percieving and experiencing the world if we are open to it...its sordove one of those good life experiences to have either way imo, to have experienced the chemicals and plants here that can alter our conciousness. especially the ones that can open our minds to our true potential if that is what we really seek...

Yes I do meditate, yes I do go to illegal raves, no I don't take e's and haven't done in a few years, and as originally stated you are delusional if you thinking blow is helping your meditation practise in the long run, as I said meditation is all about mindfulness and bringing the same into your every day life and blow just ruins your attention span and defeats the whole purpose.

what like speed or coke? I'd didn't think anyone was trying to use them in their meditation practise I was on about hash or marijuana, which are referred to as blow in Ireland and the UK aswell as far as I know.
