so iwant to learn more about drugs that do this. like i heard that 2c-t-7 is an MAO so wat is difference between MAO and MAOI and how do they act on other drugs exactly
you probably heard that 2C-T-7 is i drug you DO NOT want to take with an MAO inhibitor MAO is not a drug as such. its an enzyme (or more specifically, several enzymes) monoamine oxidase in the gut, it destroys many otherwise toxic substances and makes them safe (or safer) to ingest, by either drastically altering their effect on the body or by eliminating the effect altogether. MAO inhibitors are drugs that inhibit the action of MAO. there are pharmaceutical drugs, i think mostly old school antidepressants that aren't prescribed often anymore, which are long-acting MAO inhibitors. MAO inhibition is considered a side effect in these psychiatric drugs, i'm pretty sure, and their other effects are the desired results. these are taken daily for long periods of time. other, shorter term MAO inhibitors act as strong psychoactive drugs in their own right, such as harmine and harmaline. these can be taken once, on their own, for a somewhat psychedelic experience, though they often upset the stomach quite a bit and can cause purging, and aren't generally held as recreationally valuable. they occur in plants such as ayahuasca (aka yage, a vine from the amazon) and syrian rue seeds (from a middle eastern plant used most frequently in dying cloth) one practical application of the harmala alkaloids beyond using them for a slightly psychedelic substance in their own right is to potentiate the effects of other psychedelics. this means certain psychedelics can be taken with an MAO inhibitor to vastly increase the power of the other drug (say, mushrooms) along with adding the character of the other substance to the experience. psilocin, psilocybin, and the more minor alkaloids found in psilocybian mushrooms are only partially broken down by the MAO naturally, leaving them effective in humans, but not to their fullest potential. MAO inhibition will vastly increase the effectiveness of psilocybin (by about 2 fold, most people say, but all things are relative) as well as add its own character to the experience. perhaps even more interesting than psilocybin potentiation is the idea of using DMT orally along with an MAO inhibitor. normally the MAO in the gut destroys the DMT so quickly that it is impossible to use DMT orally, no matter how much of it you take. DMT is plentiful in plants in the amazon, but since it doesnt occur in any plant in concentrations high enough to be smoked, it was likely unknown for many thousands of years to the natives. eventually the combination of the ayahuasca vine and DMT containing plants, most commonly used today is chacruna or chaliponga, resulted in one of the most unbelievably earth shattering psychedelics known to mankind. it is central to very many religious traditions in south and central america. it is also potentially very dangerous, due to MAO inhibition. many things which are normally harmless such as bananas, cheese, or fermented products, can make you very very ill when consumed too close to taking an MAOi. many other things which are generally "safe enough" could kill you - mostly pharmaceuticals you wouldnt consider twice, like OTC pain relievers and the like. many prescriptions. alcohol can also be very dangerous. so for a set period of time before, and probably also after, an ayahuasca experience it is important to keep a very careful diet to avoid any health complications. though the MAOi will almost definitely cause severe purging on its own, it is not dangerous at all if you have been keeping a proper diet and have not been taking any kinds of other drugs or medicines. in fact, many claim ayahuasca itself is the quintessential medicine. its definitely not the kind of thing to fuck around with for the hell of it, and you need to be EXTREMELY careful what you ingest with it. NOT all psychedelics are ok. 2C-x or MDMA or any number of other drugs would be big nonos. i've heard extremely mixed things about mescaline. -most- tryptamines should be okay, but use good judgment (i wouldnt trust an MAOi and AMT together as safe, personally, but LSD, psilocybin, DMT, 5-MeO-DMT or DPT should all be okay)
and i've never tried it, for the record. but many, many highly seasoned trippers thought they could handle it just fine, only to be thrown into a dimension they never thought could exist, even with the wierd things they'd experienced with high doses of mushrooms or acid. be careful
Adding MAOIs to your drug changes the intensity AND QUALITY of the drug trip. Not only is it stronger, its DIFFERENT. Not always for the better.
wow thank you nesta u always got a load of info to share. lol i sometimes feel everything u say in the psychedelics forum should be a STICKY. so MAO occurs in our bodys naturally and thats the enzyme that breaks down the things we ingest. so an MAOI inhibits that process to slow it down? just making sure im getting all this.
i dont really understand it myself inside and out, i only have a basic knowledge of how mao inhibition works, but yeah, MAO=monoamine oxidase, which is an enzyme found in our body. it doesnt break down everything, but it seriously alters what we can and cannot put in our bodies. many medicines could become lethal poisons while its inhibited, and many other normally harmless or healthy things could make somebody very ill. if you decide to take an MAO inhibitor, i suggest looking into this extensively. the thing you're most specifically looking to avoid is tyramine. you'll want to avoid such foods for a set period before the inhibitor is taken, while under it's effects, and probably for a short period afterwards as well. MAO also will dampen, eliminate, or alter the effects of a number of drugs.
yea i wanted to look more into this so i could make a yage brew for this summer. also to potentiate other drugs. i was lookin at the deaths from 2c-t-7 and people were saying that it wasnt only the high intranasal dose but also that it reacted badly with the mdma.
i personally would not try it with any kind of drug at all other than the few tryptamines i mentioned. i'm very interested in trying proper ayahuasca with chacruna (which contains DMT) first, but after that i'm also interested in the possibility of using ayahuasca vine with mushrooms for potentiation. also, DPT isn't very orally active, but it is somewhat. i think it should be fine with an mao inhibitor, and i think it could be a very interesting experience. i wish i still knew good places to get things like DPT, that was one of the most incredible psychedelics i've ever tried.
yea i heard dpt is amazing. i wanna get the freebase cuz i heard smkn it was amazing. i jus scored a dpt vendor but its the hcl.
the HCl usually is either insufflated or eaten (with far less predictable effects) but the insufflated experience is just out of this world. its a very, very uncomfortable substance to insufflate, but thats okay. if one really wanted to, it could be taken in the other end to reduce the discomfort of snorting it, but w/e. i'd like to try the freebase oil, too, but since its an oil, and since i have nowhere currently where i could smoke such a thing, it wouldnt be a good idea for me to get the oil.
i'm very out of the loop when it comes to the current state of affairs with RCs. googling for vendors hasn't been trustworthy for years, as far as i'm aware. is it mostly word of mouth these days? i'm also curious, last time i checked undrug seems to have gone the way of the dodo. also if i'm not mistaken, i heard a while ago that its almost all email only now, but idk. whatever haha
wouldnt a light bulb vaporizer work for the freebase oil? and lol i was plannin on pluggin it if i got the hcl. the best way to take a chem IMO
yeah it should, but i'd personally get either like a hash oil pipe/dmt pipe kind of thing or else i'd apply it to some parsley for easier dosing. proper dosage would be my main concern with it, really. i have tried the HCl rectally once only, and its the only thing i've tried that way. it definitely isn't the worst way to go - its very painful to insufflate it. but it should have tremendous potential as a material for an ayahuasca analogue
yea ive been usin my trusty ol lightbulb for my meo dmt. i love my lightbulb lol. and rectal admin of molly i highly rec to u! absolute bliss. ive been thinking about rectal admin of some meo dmt. and dpt would prob make a wonderful aya analogue
i've never been a big fan of MDMA, honestly, but i hear its best that way. doesnt seem worth it to me, though. as for the lightbulb, if you do get the oil i would use a new one, rather than one you've used for 5-MeO-DMT, if you want to guarantee getting a purely DPT-based experience
haha yea i would def be using a new one. i think i may invest in some oil pipes in the future for each different chem i use. i have a friend who blows glass too so i think im gonna ask him to make me a dmt pipe.
Kava Kava is a MOA-B Inhibitor, I took it with shrooms last night for this reason. My understanding of the metabolism of Tryptamine like chemicals is this... Lets use DMT as an Example. DMT> Stomach > Liver > in the liver exists the MAO systems. There are 2 MAO systems. MAO-A is Input, and MAO-B is Out Put. So to get DMT to bypass the MAO-A input you need an MAO-A inhibitor. To slow or prevent the decomposition of DMT over time would require an MAO-B in inhibitor to keep it from being broken down into tryptamine and the matoblites are sent to the blatter to be pissed out. Because Kava Kava is an MAO-B inhibitor, it would slow the decomposition of psilocin to tryptamine, and would make the drug longer lasting and more effective. Happy Tripping
i never knew that about kava! i love that brew. ill have to give that a whirl, might calm down some of my mush trips.
