    man this is so interesting.

"there is a very large number of universes, and everything that could possibly have happened in our past, but didn't, has occurred in the past of some other universe or universes."

Yes and every thought or dream creates a world, we are constantly creating new worlds, we are gods of creation. Its infinite.

Infinite number of universes is right. There is a universe exactly like the one we're in right now except there's a minute difference so insignificant, like instead of the penny on the desk next to me being heads up its face down, and another on where there's no penny at all. That means there is a infinite number of Me's typing these exact same letters on the screen at this exact moment, I find that a little disturbing, I guess the other Me's do to.

  4. I do not subscribe to this theory. What is the original universe for any other universe to branch off of? Why would there be one? Mustn't there initially have been infinite possibilities? How could anything have happened initially, then? Or did all things happen initially? But if so, why would the universes have anything further to do with each other?

Couldn't you also say that it's a possibility that nothing at all would have happened initially, since there were infinite possibilities and none could be determined because not everything that could possibly happen could yet have occurred? And since it's possible that nothing would have happened, how could anything have happened, if all possibilities must occur?

There could very well be a universe where nothing has happened. I think that answers your question quite nicely.
