Alright, this is simple. Post something concerning music, which you believe to be true, that is likely to cause contention. Rebuttals are encouraged. Keep it civil though.

    I'll get the ball rolling............

    1. Despite the fact it's cool to hate him, Eminiem is the most talented mainstream rap muscian

    2. The Pixies are overrated, I mean they were good, but really overrated by alot of people.

Those two are probably really true. Don't know for sure about the first one though, cause I'm not into rap.

Mine: Stoner rock is a genre.

Ok. How about this? There are now two versions of Wishbone Ash. One is the long standing band that Andy Powell has kept going for 36 years. But recently, Martin Turner, who was the bass player and vocalist of the original group, has started his own group calling it Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash.Martin had left the original group back in 1980, returned in 1990, left again, then returned for a short tour a few years later, then left for a third time. Now, after being away for many years, he has decided to form a band and use the name of Wishbone Ash so he can cash in on the music that Andy Powell has kept alive for all these years. Me thinks this is a shame, and I tell you, I have heard Martin's group, and they sound like a garage band. And Martin's singing is atrocious. If anyone goes to see Wishbone Ash, make sure you are going to see the real deal, the band fronted by Andy Powell. If you dont make the mistake of seeing Martin's garage band, you will not be disappointed.

I wouldn't disagree with that but it gets complicated when you have sludge and doom and all the other stoner rock styles.

The first Hallucinogen album despite being entirely electronic has more emotion and soul to it than 1000 indie-rock albums put together. Shocking!

    Stoner rock is a sub-genre.

Of rock? I suppose so. And if stoner rock is very alive, I come to the conclusion that rock isn't dead.

I have always held the opinion that popular music peaked with 70's jamaican dub.

Also, Eminem irritates me and his rhymes are weak, and anyone who doesn't think the Pixies were one of the best bands of the last 20 years probably hasn't gotten into them enough to know how great they truly were. But it also bothers me that it's become so trendy to like them. I'm an elitist, what can I say? :D

Everything in the chasrts is utter shite. Rap deserves a C in front.

And prog rock peaked with Jethro Tull. And we're not living in the past, we're deploring the decline of music generally.
