Light wizardry? Room-temperature trick mimics -454°F lab to trigger quantum effects

This is like discovering that your refrigerator magnet can produce anti-gravity.

Magnons are ubiquitous quasi-particles, the collective magnetic vibrations of any material. Over the last fifteen years, physicists have kept making dramatic new discoveries like this, that all prove their theories are bullshit. They've been so busy making money applying whatever math and theories they can cook up real fast, they're all starting to fall apart at the same time.

One of the bigger mysteries today, is whether there's any real distinction between quantum mechanics and fuzzy logic, and all the evidence says no. Quantum effects are common in the everyday world, and physicists have shoved their noses too deep into the bark of whatever tree paid the most, because classic logic doesn't reflect the real world outside their labs.

Of course, the Tea Party censors half of reality, and has no problem throwing physicists in the dungeon if necessary.

Note that this particular discovery is related to being able to use cheap bulk materials to produce quantum effects. Quasi-particles have turned out to be seriously under-rated, and can even transport heat 7,000x faster than normal. Think of the electrons constantly scattering around inside a metal, all their random behavior and properties create all kinds of quasi particles that everyone has been trying to avoid for the most part. However, after studying electrons more than all the other particles combined, we've finally started to get the math and science together to see exactly how they work in matter, and their quasi particles can produce room temperature quantum effects.

Something like 2d graphene is a metamaterial, not a bulk material, and this kind of discovery means you can make chips that are even cheaper to make. Its a little scary, because the Pentagon has been depending on it being expensive to make chips that leverage quantum effects.
