1. The Hipforums announces it first ever fundraiser. After nearly 30 years online, we must ask our members and guests to help support the website. Thanks to years of ongoing financial support of our members, advertisers and volunteer admin staff, we have been able to keep the forums alive.

Now we must ask for help as available funds have all been used for our Internet server and other fees.

So please donate any amount to our PayPal account donate@Hipforum.com to keep the site going. If we can get enough for a few months fees, we won't need to nag you again!

I have a Mac 7200/120 that was given to me.Three questions.

    1. When shutting down a sign comes up saying "The volume bitmap is incorrect".
    What does this mean?

    2. I looked inside the other day. There are plug in strps for modem or ethernet cards. I also noticed that there was an ethernet socket on the motherboard at the back.Is this a built in ethernet circuit and therefore not requiring a seperate ethernet card for ADSL modem connection?

3.There is also a 25 pin socket. The printer uses one of the Apple type similar to a Mouse type ( but larger) on an IBM.What is it for?

Yes. the 7200 includes a built-in ethernet interface.

It's a serial port. old macs used serial ports (as opposed to parallel ports on pc) to drive printers. It won't be so easy to find a serial printer nowdays, but you can easily add a USB pci card to this mac & hook-up a USB printer.
just make sure you're using a system that supports usb, (macos 8.6 & up if i remember correctly).
