    IS 244A ARABIC LITERATURE AND CULTURE. One semester (1/2 unit of credit*). The course will first provide students with some knowledge of the Arabic language. The emphasis will then shift to various literary works in translation: poems, short stories, novels. Texts will be studied for their intrinsic literary value, but also as a reflection of the history, politics, and culture of the Arab World.


    I actually REALLY REALLY wanna learn Arabic..
    And I never knew where i could learn it at..
    this is awesome..

    i am probobly going to take Ukranian or Latin next year to begin to get my 6 credits in a Sec. language

    IS 244A ARABIC LITERATURE AND CULTURE. One semester (1/2 unit of credit*). The course will first provide students with some knowledge of the Arabic language.     MU374 PRIVATE LESSONS-Major Study. One semester (1/2 unit of credit). Students receive a weekly lesson on their individual instrument and a studio class to work on repertoire, technique, overall musicianship, and stage presence. The requirements for the amount of literature to be learned and memorized will vary at the discretion of the instructor depending upon the student's level. This may include preparation studies for competitions, recitals, and concerts. The course will culminate in a senior recital during the student's final semester. Minimum weekly practice is ten hours. Prerequisite/Co-requisite: Audition/interview with department chair and enrollment in MU254. Enrollment will be limited, based on student auditions and available funds.
    MU 274P VIOLIN


    AR 113 DESIGN. One semester (½ unit of credit). Discovery through design, with a wide variety of materials and assignments. $35 lab fee.

    AR 123 DRAWING. One semester (½ unit of credit). An understanding of visual organization and structure through delineation and modeling. Studies range from still life, landscape, architecture, figure, portrait, and abstract using a broad range of materials. $25 lab fee.


    AR 131 PAINTING. One semester (½ unit of credit). Students will learn the terminology, structure, philosophy, and theory of working with oils or acrylics on canvas. Subjects will range from the traditional to total non-objective abstraction. Prerequisite: Must earn an A in each, Drawing & Design at Louisiana School . $35 lab fee.



    AR 153 BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY. One semester (½ unit of credit). Theory and basic skills in making the photographic image. Small cameras, lenses, filters; lighting techniques, light meters; darkroom procedure. Photographic composition; film developing; print processing. Each participant must have their own camera that has adjustable settings or manual override. $35 lab fee.



    AR 334 CERAMICS. One semester (½ unit of credit). Introducing ceramics as an art form and functional pieces. Pinch pots, coil, slab, and hand throwing will be studied. Sculptural concepts included. Includes the making of glazes, stains, firing, loading and unloading the kilns, Raku. Prerequisite: Must earn an A in each, Drawing and Design at Louisiana School . $35 lab fee.

    AR 232 PAINTING II. One semester (½ unit of credit). Advanced problems in pictorial organization executed in oil and related media. Prerequisite: Must earn an A in each, Painting I, Drawing, and Design at Louisiana School . $35 lab fee.


    CS 244P WEBPAGE DESIGN PRACTICUM. One semester (½ unit of credit). This course will focus on the design, development, and maintenance of the LSMSA web site. Students will get experience working with live web pages using many different tools including but not limited to the Macromedia Studio MX and HTML. Prerequisite: seniors only, consent of instructor.



    TH 103 ACTING I. One semester (½ unit of credit). The course deals with the actors' media: sensory responsiveness, bodily movement, and voice. Practice in scene study, culminating in a fully staged duet scene employing set, costumes, props, and sound effects.

    (**MAYBE...but probably not.. i'm too shy..)


    FL 310 INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED FRENCH. One year (1 unit of credit). Continues development of skills in oral, written, and aural French. The fine points of grammar, complex verb tenses, and idiomatic expressions are treated in depth, with emphasis on using these structures in composition and conversation. A variety of literary excerpts are read and combined with culture units of French speaking countries. The class is conducted in French. Prerequisite: FL210 or consent of department chair.
    (and any other french classes.. I want to be FLUENT)

    FL 130 LATIN I. One year (1 unit of credit). Students will begin the study of Latin grammar and will be introduced to the reading of Latin prose and Latin prose composition. Emphasis will be placed on the study of ancient Roman history, culture, and classical mythology to help students understand the context of their reading. Latin I will also include some study of English derivatives and will assist in vocabulary building.


    PE 241B FITNESS SWIMMING. One semester (½ unit of credit). Water and dry land activities to develop fitness. Laps, runs, sprints, relays, weight training, short, middle, and long distance runs.


    SS 244C GENDER STUDIES. One semester (1/2 unit of credit). This is a seminar course deigned to explore the connection between changing ideals about gender and the shaping of American public and private life from the colonial period to the present. Topics to be covered include the cultural and social forces that produced the concept of separate sphere in the 18th and 19th centuries, and how definitions of social and economic success and failure were based on gender. Other topics include the changing the role of work, home life, and leisure in shaping male and female identities, the emergence of sexuality as a key component of identity, and the impact of urbanization, immigration, race, and the media of ideals of gender.


    SS 244D EASTERN FAITH TRADITIONS. One semester (½ unit of credit). An examination of the tenets and practices of the major eastern faith traditions - Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Jainism, and Sikhism - as reflected in their sacred texts and from their historical and cultural contexts.




    SS 214 INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY. One semester (½ unit of credit). This course will deal with basic problems, arguments, and concepts of selected western philosophers, dealing with theology, knowledge, reality, and free will. We will look at the writings of such philosophers as Hume, James, Descartes, Locke, Berkeley, Reid, and others.






    I'll NEVER EVER EVER have time to do all this..
    I'd be SO stressed, i swear..haha
    I'll just have to pick... =/

    no, i think its cool--just odd

    if it were me, id take as many religion classes as possible--i am probobly going to change my minor to religion [when i change my major to poly sci--which used to be my minor]--id also ditch the CompSci class [but again thats me]

    hey, i was trying to not be negative :(

    i was just comenting that the compsci class semed out of place with all the Social Sciences,a dn fine arts, and then you said if you took al the stuff you wanted to you would be wamed, so i was mearly stating that :p
