Well, it seems that quite a few colleges (at least here in PA) would like to see the drinking age cut back to 18. They say it will make for more responsible drinkers. Don't know about that, but as one dean said, "They are doing it anyway. So it might as well be 18" discuss
Heres a link to one of many stories floating around. http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/education/17270221/detail.html
they're always furious about something... couldn't teach their kids not to be fucking idiots who go get themselves killed on the road, so they have to join a group to take it out on a scapegoat (alcohol)
i'm all for abolishing the drinking age all together. if a 7 year old wants to hit up the liquor store, its fine by me
International Association of Chiefs of Police are totally against it. surprise surprise. This is why I hang up on them when they call me asking for money. I could really care less about if they do or don't change it, either way, kids are still gonna drink alcohol and until their parents are ready to take responsibility for their kids, we will have problems. What I don't understand, a lot of Europe has very low drinking ages, and the kind of shit that happens here where it is 21, doesn't happen over there. Its also true for marijuana. As well as the vast majority of other drugs.
but think of the cheap liquor he'd have to buy...... a 7 year old doesn't get much if any of an allowance. would you want YOUR son drinking 2 dollar a gallon vodka?
I think the age is 18 here anyway, having it at 21 always seemed kinda strange to me - you can drive but cant drink.
I just wish they would debate something good, like making an open season on stray cats, like wisconsin, or michigan did. I can't remember which one. Fucking cats.
It never made sense to me how 16 year olds are allowed to drive there, but you can't buy alcohol until you're 21..
I don't think they should lower the drinking age. Most people aren't prepared mentally (let alone physically) to handle drinking at an early age. That said, I think the drinking age on military facilities should be 18 (with a military id).
it "sort of" is. which i think makes perfect since. what, you're old enough to get shipped off and blown up for your country, but you're not allowed to drink at the bar? pfft. that's fucking stupid. you're allowed to vote, but too immature to have beer? WHAT?
21 is ridiculous. A legacy of the puritan tradition of the Prohibition. I like 18. And I'd be for a parental supervision clause for minors. AND, this stuff about not allowing alcohol to be bought after certain hours or in certain locations is just childish. It was so weird to me, being a teen recently transplanted from Brazil into PA. Alcohol was such a mystical thing for those people.
