What is Trump trying to accomplish?

 

Declare an eternal state of emergency. Invoke the Insurrection Act, suspend habeas corpus, and mobilize NORTHCOM to enforce martial law. Provoke a Kent State; the bloodier the better. Try the survivors for sedition before kangaroo-court military tribunals in public show trials and rendition them to some foreign gulag as a warning to others who might be inclined to defend Democracy. Voilà; a one-party military dictatorship.

Taco has explicitly called protestors "insurrectionists". His memorandum authorizing deployment of "regular Armed Forces" and federalizing the National Guard doesn’t specify a city or state for their deployment, but authorizes deploying troops in areas where protests “are occurring or are likely to occur”; not as a last resort, but preemptively. “We're gonna have troops everywhere.”

I will start off by admitting that I, who is of Hispanic descent do believe that illegal immigration is a problem in our country. It has definitely caused problems personally for me. But that is not the focus of this reply.

It’s a complex situation here in LA. It’s not the cops causing the problem, they’re actually doing a good job. There are a bunch of low life punks who hide amongst the peaceful protesters.
As soon as the sun goes down they start graffitiing all over the place. They burn stuff and breakout the windows at mostly small businesses and grab all they can carry.

The protesters have been very peaceful so far.
My main problem with the protesters is how they disrupt traffic downtown. That’s not cool.
Hopefully the curfew starting tonight will slow down the looting and graffiti. We’ll see tomorrow morning.

The cops have stated that they are not happy with Trumps decision to bring in the National Guard and the Marines.
And from what I have witnessed I really see no reason why they are needed. If they were called in to help the cops round up all the punks looting, fine. But they weren’t.
They were brought in to protect the federal buildings and Ice officers during their raids. I haven’t seen anything happen during their raids that would be cause to bring in federal troops. Having the federal troops here is just stirring up a hornets nest which is what I believe is being done intentionally..

It appears Trumps hatred of “them”(anyone who disagrees with him), especially the California dems, is where he’s chosen to go after the “invaders”.
Unfortunately this is going to get real ugly if it continues.
There’s got to be a better way..after all isn’t he the self proclaimed greatest negotiator of all time?

 

The requirement to crack down on illegal immigration is a valid need. Trump in his normal phsyco fashion went extreme. A better way would have been an amnesty to allow illegal immigrants to either apply for citizenship taking into account factors such as time in USA, employment, family, community standing, contribution as a resident and criminal history.
Then take a firmer approach on those who ignore this opportunity.

I still firmly contest this biased perception of only being peaceful protests, there clearly is rioting in significant areas.

I do have friends and colleagues in the area and base my assessment on first hand information not biased media of either side.

 

Unfortunately not everyone will agree with you through out life, blocking is one way to deal with it, especially if you feel unable to conduct a valid discussion. Another is to accept people have different opinions, perceptions and experiences and voice your opinion.

You other wise seem like a nice person, so take care and keep enjoying "the view"

There is an element of tragic to even legitimate deportations that affects a wide population.

What's President Trump trying to accomplish? Maybe trying to stop violence in the streets? Maybe preventing innocent people losing property? Who knows. By the way-- you spelled riots wrong.

 

He's trying to set a precedent for declaring martial law. He wants absolute power.

I'm absolutely not a Trump fan, but opinion should not be blinded by political allegiance be it left or right, reality is reality no matter how strong your rose colour glasses are.

 

The riots are not fake, what are the media meant to do, only show the side streets where its quite?
