Tunisia is all over the news recently..i wont go into the reasons in this thread but the news is showing some pretty horrific images of protesters rioting and looting. The same with Egypt. In today's news they are showing protesters battling the police and some violent rioting.....again i wont go into the reasons...they dont matter in this thread..its the looting that inspire me to ask

''would you loot during a riot if every one else was also looting....would you go into a store and help yourself to a flat screen tv or perhaps some clothing?

No. No matter what the circumstances are it is still stealing. I would not do so.

Hard to say, I wanna say no, but then again who knows what'd happen in the heat of moment, seeing everyone else running away with a shopping cart of free food looks appealing.

Riots are pretty damn violent, i'd be too afraid of getting randomly stabbed, trampled, arrested, and just plain injured from all the goings-on. So no i wouldn't, i'd stay home. Though i would probably by some stolen shit, crackheads have really good deals on electronics lol.

hell yeah i would! being in a riot and looting is actually a dream of mine. I mean id steal from big box stores not indaviduals of course. That would be too ridiculous of an experience to pass up.

Electronics are not very useful once they have been drenched in water.. ..

Though to carry out execution style killings, on people taking junk of no value, is kinda Unamerican... Dont you think George ?...

It depends what I'd be looting, and from who, and under what circumstances.

In those riots in tunisia where police where firing live ammunition into the crowd, I'd be ready to burn everything down (especially riot police) and steal everything(including the weapons, vehicles, and anything else useful belonging to the burning riot police).

no , looting proves too me that when there's a lack of government control over people, we act like wild animals. If I was too loot, it would fundamentally support the notion that we need government to survive civilized.

stealing is one of those things im just not into.. i do quite a bit of shit, stealing is not part of it.

That said.. I´m poor as shit. And if I was around a guitar store at the time.. I might borrow some stuff. (I´d pay them back once I was a rock god.)

We were talking about this last week because of the floods here.
If the premise was going to be doomed anyway then yes I'd go nuts. Someone else has something to lose that I can gain. If the premise was going to be okay though and the owners had a chance to salvage their goods then probably not.
I've always wanted to go to town on a house with an axe or hammer though. Smashing things is pretty fun. =]

government control?half the time thats the very reason people riot in the first place,,,irminsoul has a good point about australia...although most business cannot purchase flood insurance..same thing happened in n'orlins ..no one had flood insurance....i would definately try to amass a small fortune in looted goods in a catastrophe type situation ....
