Hello we are new to this site, and are from Lake Havasu City, AZ. We were wondering if anyone knew of any hippie meeting sites in the state or in NV, CA, or NM. We are also going to be spending some time this summer in Iowa. Any information about places in Iowa, Missouri or Kansas? Let us know. We are also particularly interested in meetings or events dealing with herbs: growing and using, as well as hydroponics. Thanks. Dyna Girl and Skinny Guy
Umm. You're new to Arizona too. Right? Check out Sedona. Not just the Tourist shit! The ASU area in Phoenix is about your speed too. Sedona is WORLD FAMOUS for it's Spiritual Vortex. ASU is kinda like "Animal House" as Uni's go.
This week will have even more visitors than spring break. BTW how can you change avatars on this site? I want to upload my own.
HI, I'm in Missouri right now and have been hearing a lot about this festival located in Salem, MO, it's called Schwagstock and it's a hippie gathering that happens a few times throughout the year, there's a lot of tent stores and live music in the evening. I haven't been to any one yet but I hope to go this summer. If you google Schwagstock, you can find their official website with everything. As for Iowa, I'm from the Quad Cities area (Davenport, IA; Bettendorf, IA; Moline, IL) and I know they have a hippie community but it's not too out there yet. What I'd really like to know is how is it living in Arizona? My husband and I have been thinking about moving down there but are scared because we heard the cost of living was really high and they pay less. We were looking at the Sedona area as well as Flagstaff and Tucson. Also, is it true that the crime rates are really high down there?
Lake Havasu is about 115 degrees right now. After this week we are going to the midwest where it is a little cooler. We have been here about 7 years and in that time the state has just exploded in growth. The one thing that I don't like about this area, as well as vegas, is people judge others by income. This area is driven by the CA economy so a lot of people here have second homes. To reach other hippies we usually goto Flagstaff. A starter home in Lake Havasu City starts about $225,000
Another area you also might want to look at is the white moutains of AZ. This area is similar to Flagstaff. It is on the far right hand side of AZ. I would stay away from the border towns such as Douglas, Nogalas, Yuma. AZ can not control the borders with the budgets that they have. I have not heard of bad things happening in Flagstaff or Sedona.
If you can live off the grid, then you can buy cheaper acrage. If you don't mind driving 30-40 miles Williams is outside of Flagstaff.
Hello Dynagirl, I got back to Kingman,AZ last month (about an hour North of Lake Havasu City)...after spending about 10 1/2 months in New Hampshire. Today I'm wasting time at the Mohave Community College library and was glad to see someone else from this area here.
We moved here from Maine, We used to live in Augusta. Pace of life is different here than it is in New England. Kingman is not that far, and that area is going through a lot of changes too.
