Every month as soon as my period starts, I know I have 30-40 minutes before I'm left curled up in fetal position, crying and in intense pain. No pain killers seem to help. I've also tried various teas and heating pads. A lot of the time I start throwing up from the pain. It's usually worse on the left side of my stomach. I also can't sleep because I have really horrible dreams that only come this time of the month. Ladies, can anyone tell me how they deal with cramps? Any advice at all would be very appreciated :)

I found the pain killer that worked best for me was Naproxen Sodium = "Alieve". I'm sorry that's all I've got. I eventually had my uterus removed.

If they're that bad and can't be relieved through meds and other measures, I'd go see a gyno. The fact that it's mostly on one side seems to me that it could be endometriosis or fibroids. Not trying to scare you, but I'd make an appointment.

Lachesis. But you will need to see a homoeopath to get it, as I dont think they sell it over the counter.

Or you could try magnesium phosphate

See a doctor ASAP. You could have a cyst or some other problem which needs to be sorted out to eliminate risk of complications.

In the meantime, top dose of painkillers, eat bananas and lightly exercise if you can.

definitely see a doctor. if painkillers aren't working there could be something wrong.

I have severe-ish cramps (sometimes of the debilitating can't move a muscle variety, sometimes not), and I find that taking Evening Primrose supplements helps with cramps and a lot of different symptoms. pot has always worked better for me than midol or anything like that. going for a swim (if possible) usually helps my muscles relax.

sucks dude :[ hope you find your solution

I stopped getting cramps when I switched to a whole foods, plant-based diet. Avoid pesticide residue in food by buying organic and local when you can- xenoestrogens are in pesticides and they fuck up hormones. NEVER microwave plastic. Try to avoid plastic (especially styrofoam) and microwaving as much as possible.
Avoid chemical cleaning products and all that shit...
It works, honestly it does :)
Make sure you're getting enough potassium, iron, and zinc!

I used to eat standard american and would get periods that lasted 5-6 days, cramps (sometimes really bad), headaches, and the period itself was pretty heavy. Now they sort of last 5 days, but not really since the last 3 days are basically just spotting and I don't have to use anything. I don't get any symptoms other than very very hungry :sunny:
I actually love getting my period :2thumbsup:

Try kneeling and then leaning forward so that your head touches your knees. Breathe deep as you straighten your back and sit up. I got that one from Daughters of Copper Woman but I haven't tried it yet because I'm in between cycles. Let me know how it goes or vice versa. I don't know if you eat fast or junk food, but if you do, cut back on it dramatically or completely and then see how your next period goes. Drink tons and tons of water. I get reaaaaally bad cramps too and nothing seems to help other than patiently waiting it out. Patience is a virtue I do not possess. Good luck.

A cyst might be a possibility. I know a friend who has horribly bad cramps because of an ovarian cyst, and last I checked she was taking something to help stop all of that. A visit to your doctor might be needed.

I use to have horrible menstrual pain and heavy bleeding. This kept me from playing alot of sports that I normally would. Well I did go to see a doctor and soon after I had a laproscospy. Then sure enough I was diagnosed with endometriosis. The laproscopy was supposed to have burned alot of it. But I for one really feel I know the kind of pain you're going through. Please consider taking everyone's advice and see a doctor. If nothing else you need to be on prescription painkillers. If you take them exactly as prescribed they will greatly improve your quality of life, enough to help you find a better solution for your pain. Best of luck to you.
