Look what I found in a pile of rubble behind an overgrown hedge.
It weighs a ton; I can't lift it; I had to drag it home on a hand truck.I'm going to reattach the head, and create some sort of base to hold it upright. Suggestions welcomed.

Interesting. Contact a museum and see what they say about it.

I'm pretty sure it's contemporary, but well made; no surface air bubbles or visible parting line from casting. Complete, it would've stood over 3' tall. The protuberance on top of his head (the ushnisha), the tightly curled ringlets, and the extended ear lobes are all representative of The Buddha. The abhaya mudra; the open palm with fingers upward, allays all fear. The varada mudra; the open palm with fingers downwards, represents generosity. The robes appear Chinese; Zen robes are depicted as less stylized and much more austere.

I don't see anything in the photograph to give it scale. How big is it? Is it just really heavy or is it like a good 2-3ft tall?

With it's original base, it'd be a bit over 3' tall. If he was standing on a lotus blossom (not uncommon), taller than that.
