hey all you need to do is like
    get a friend or two
section your hair off in bunch of sections
then get a comb like the dog combs with lots of bristles close together
    and backcomb your hair
then just get some natural soap residue free
like dr bronners and you will be good to go

or you can always just stop using a comb
and start using residue free soap
    wash every 3-4 days
and you can do that too

don't use wax whatever you do
back comb or just let your hair do its thing

wax picks up dirt and stuff and your hair can get mouldy
and doesn't let your hair actually knot up like a real dread
so i dunno if this helps
    hope it does
    peace

You can get dreads done in Camden, I was there a while back and some lady told me they do them in their salon.

There's a place called camden locks i think and another place called pepeys. Make sure you specifically say to them "No wax!!" otherwise they'll turn you into a candle!

I spelt it wrong! Found the site for you though.

    http://www.pepis.net

My friend got his done there and i must say even though they used wax they look fucking awesome. We did have to take a kettle of boiling hot water to his head to get it all out though! hehe. Hope it goes well for you!

I was at this salon the other day that was really anti wax. If people come in with wax they dissolve the wax (with essential oils?) and they don't back comb... they do this strange weavey thing. So you never know, maybe theres a place like that in your area. Seeing as theres one in Perth (population density= 2 people/square kilometre) there should definitely be on in London!

There is something other than boiling hot water that can get rid of wax? Gee, someone could get rich here. :p

    no problem mate!
if you are ever in the land of cider aka somerset, shout cos i'll still gladly help :D
but nothing cept the pogues or the levellers will generally be able to tempt me into the city so i wont be in london again for the foreseeable future. cities are scary places!

I think that deep cleaning contoction does a good job at moving it along, but the wax isn't water soluable so you have to melt it before it will shift! Well, as far as i know anyway, i may be wrong!
