NOTE: This thread move to Politics so you can all have a go if you want now. http://liveearth.msn.com/concerts Anyone off to this on Saturday? I was just offered free tickets and METALLICA are going to be there, so I couldn't possibly refuse!
Nice one First I heard about it was on this evening's news. Al Gore was being questioned about his 20 foot tidal wave theory. Some skillful backpeddeling later he was wished all the best for the event. I'll not be going
Suppose it will be fun, hope you enjoy it anyway Nay. Did get a glimpse of the Diana thing whilst my ladies watched it, y'know I couldn't be doing with all those seats.
I thought the sound quality at the Diana concert was pretty bad too. Most people sounded flat and out of tune to me. I enjoyed Kanye West's medly
Didn't watch any o it. To be honest, I don't really give a fuck what the show is like. IT WAS FREE and METALLICA are going to be there.

The irony of this event baffles me. They rally to save energy but waste a whole batch of it through these concerts. They are bring the issue of Global Warming to the world, when everyone in the world already knows about Global Warming. All this really is is a campaign stunt by Al Gore, trying to get the independents to vote Democrat. Global Warming is overhyped as it is. There are a million better causes out there.
Do you really believe those Conservative LIES that are convenient OIL INDUSTRY talking points without any shred of truth? If ANYONE gets the message who didn't before, it will have been worth it. Very few ppl took private jets to these concerts, so on what basis do you claim it's worse than any other event? So if you don't support it, you're not gonna watch any of it, right? And what about the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS who are just sitting at home, watch this for FREE, not using ANY more energy than a typical couch potato? How are they wasting energy by enjoying this event? If anything, by staying at home on a Saturday they could be saving far more energy than any other single event could manage! Think about that...
I have nothing against enjoying this event, and some of the bands that are playing in it are great. I have a problem with the ideal of the event, and how it contradicts itself.
Maaaasssive laser lights, big big amps, jets, cars, fuel wasted to get there and back, mass electronia, polluted sky, raunchy guitars... dead sunset.
Yes, but if you measure the costs vs the number of people participating and viewing, and SAVING ENERGY BY SITTING AT HOME ON A SATURDAY, your argument fails and actually shows how energy efficient this event is. When will you stop believing these conservative talking points that have no truth at all? This concert will reach 100 times as many people as Gore's book and movie has. The message of global warming will REALLY reach far more ppl in a more personal way than ever before, with PEERS supporting and enjoying the event as well as a fantastic range of musicians who have never come together before to support the cause. Seems like some people are AFRAID of raising the awareness of the sheep. God forbid they should wake up and take some responsibility. We are in an educational phase of changing the planet's consciousness. And this relates to everyone personally, their lifestyle and their attitudes, especially towards consumption. Once we raise enough awareness about this, then the people will demand the necessary changes from their gov'ts and the Corporate world. Meanwhile the Corporate world continues to PAY PEOPLE to spread misinformation about global warming. But the truth is undeniable anymore, people are waking up and LEARNING HOW to take action, which is the NEXT PHASE of tackling the myriad of neglected problems since the 1960s. Don't be afraid of climate change, just DO SOMETHING about it, whatever it takes.
You are just a FONT of MISINFORMATION, ain't cha? Either backup your claims with some sources, or stop posting outright lies, I'm losing patience with you, dude. IN FACT, you are just trolling this thread, for some strange reason, as I've seen you do before. If I see more of this, you will be banned. I've had complaints about you before, so there's other justification too.
