Does anyone know of any freeware programs that I can get that would allow me to keep track of all Internet activity on a multiple user computer, without anyone knowing they we're being spied on?

I need something that's pretty much idiot proof. Thanks alot to those who reply..........your doing me a huge favor!!

Why not just bug their bedrooms and setup cameras all over the place as well
and record everything in realtime. Have a couple of cameras watching the monitors. Hey tap the telephones too.
Otherwise if its kids youre trying to get the dope on - why not just educate them better about internet use, and put the computer in a supervised area.
You just think anyones gonna tell ya how to install stuff so you can get credit card numbers and spy on people for blackmail purposes - whats it for?

    well Doc,

I myself could find out anything I want to know, i've got quite a few linux based keylogger programs, however this is for my landlord. He asked me for a very simple windows program so he could spy on one of his employee's. Apparently the guy uses the one computer there (my landlords a contractor) quite frequently and hides what he's doing, i'm pretty sure my landlord wants to make sure the guy isn't doing something illegal on his shit, ya dig?

Thanks alot White Feather, you saved me some time!!!

As long as your landlord is the Owner of the system, and has Admin privleges, it should even be legal. In the US at least...

I still dont get it - If the guy is an employee he has rights - some of those rights extend to not being bugged, spied on, watched, keylogged etc. If he dont trust the guy theres a better way - just make the guy work to a different routine - suppose you uncover the fact that this guy is infact having medical councelling and doesnt want his employer to know. What if he's just doin a spot of online banking - I mean it all sounds a bit technofascist in the same way that half the people on this site are claiming rights to privacy and free speech - so its ok when a private citizen does it but not when a gov does it?
sod legality - choose to be moral about it - at least think about what you might uncover - who are you to be spying on him - if his boss suspects him of something call the police. If he doesnt suspect him then leave him alone.
but I dont think its for someones boss to spy on a person. Ah what the hell its people like that you wouldnt wanna work for anyway

Who are you to turn a simple question into a discussion about employee privacy?? Who are you to question something you know nothing about?? Unfortunately for you, it is not your decision, none of your business, and you are nobody to question it.

Not that it's any of your goddamn business but,
The computer that the employee is using is NOT being used for work purposes, he is going online during work hours between jobs, it is SPECIFICALLY not his computer, and it is a PRIVLIDGE to use it. This is not a big company we're talking about, my landlord is a small contractor that pays people under the table, he has repeatedly walked up to the guy and the guy is quick to hide what he is doing, not that its any of your fucking concern but thier is talk amongst this guys coworkers that he is using my landlords computer to solicit young girls. Now........if the one man ACLU is done..........I hope you are pacified.

-i'm sorry if I come off as angry/brash, but it really pisses me off that you decide to question my motives, especially considering it is NONE of your concern.

Why doesn't he simply channel the internet connection through a proxy. A proxy server can even be setup to intercept https traffic if the user's browser is configured to accept the proxy's certificate.

    ...and...

Why doesn't the offending employee use someone's Wi-Fi connection for his questionable activity. By spoofing your MAC address it becomes impossible for anyone to find you. Unprotected wireless networks are a dime a dozen, WEP can be cracked in under an hour, and MAC address filtering is useless. If I were going to do something online that required not being tracked, that's what I would do.

It matters a great deal to me - my job is to provide network security for the networks our company provide If we suspect people of illegally using computers we do not spy on them - we merely put the person in a better supervised place and move the computer to a better arrangement.
Employees are mainly scared of the fact we put up signs saying
"your activity is being monitored" - whereas infact we do minimal monetoring of website activity - because we believe in privacy
not a screwed up concept of privacy - an all round affair.
We have had circumstances where we had to do forensic examination of a computer and we found what we were looking for - the guy was merely having online arguments with friends about money. Turned out he was about 3 grand in debt- almost the same situation your target is in
we didnt know what he was up to - BUT WHO ARE YOU TO SPY ON HIM.
Trouble is I vowed never to do that again a we reported the details to his boss, and his boss sacked him on the basis that he didnt want trouble - if the guy had 3 grand of debts he might steal. That was so fucked up I refuse to do it now and tell the bosses to call the police if they suspect anything or put the computers in better places - so some have installed spy cameras which I also think are repugnant
