I mean c'mon. They're all "Free market, liberty, all that good shit!" There's nothing more libertarian than open borders. Fuckin Tea Baggers...
Open borders are a utopian concept but I doubt you'd appreciate it if they were truly open. Your country's population would explode and the traditional anglo culture would be hard-pressed. Then again, you might like it but it would definately be a different country. Libertarians are for as much freedom as possible but mostly they mean their own freedom.
if you left borders completely open you'd get a lot of people you wouldn;t want coming in. it's just common sense to have protection of borders. ask anyone who lives where ms-13 has a presense
the borders of amerikkka are based on a series of lies, aggressive warfare, and dubious real estate transactions libertarians? never met one that practiced what they preached, from ron paul's anti-choice stance on down . . .
Is that anything like the Bloods and Crips, or maybe Al Capone's gang, or the gang of Pilgrims who killed millions of Natives? It looks to me like they're just trying to become American. .
stop, you're killin' me . . . besides, i want to get an underpaid job in a slaughterhouse, sleeping in an on-site bunkhouse, standing in a pool of blood and guts and shit all day, swinging dead cows and giant saws around, so rich people can afford steak except them pesky mexicans stole all the good jobs . . .
Anybody else curious about how this immigration debate exploded out of nowhere? Brewer has her eyes on a higher office than just governor, definitely. It's funny how these "far right" wingers are suddenly against some form of amnesty. Remember the good McCain? Wtf, that sniveling weasel... It's like, "Okay I get it. Illegal immigrants have immigrated illegally", but shit, rich folks have been employing illegals for sooo fucking long. Now they're using their dishwashers as scapegoats to rile up the morons. As far as the MS-13 reference and other South/Central American gangs and OC operations...well shit, every immigrant group that ever came here has had organized crime. The Russians, Jews, Italians, Irish, Albanians...using the "they're criminals!" logic is faulty, because in that context, we should have been persecuting the Irish because the Westies controlled large chunks of NYC. And the Italians, for that matter. I'm sick of the "We need more border security!" argument. It's gay. No terrorists came over a border fence. They came legally. So hush lol
if they don't oppose the arizona law and border protection, they're not true libertarians. there seems to be some kind of confusion or seperation with the far right wingers and the libertarians, as the libertarians are socially liberal, or at least more lenient. with the tea parties happening and getting attention, people mix the libertarian thing with just general right wing, and some libertarians are getting lost in the mix. and im not sure why you brought up terrorists. and i beg to differ hahaha
you'd think so, but i have seen mostly posturing some of those who are trying to set up 'free' regions in wyoming seem to be equally as interested in keeping out people they don't care for, as they are in 'freedom' have seen subtle hints of homophobia and racial preference while talking with local libertarians regarding their utopia-planning when your fallback position is to settle every argument with guns, i suppose it makes more sense to ban those you anticipate arguing with in advance . . .
Then by the underlined logic we should be doing far much more to ensure that foreign visitors are not overstaying their Visas right?? This will of course necessitate a much broader scrutiny of anyone with an accent and likely bring about a boom in the law enforcement industry. :cheers2: :willy_nilly:
That's actually the starting position most of the time. It's how the country began and has been the most gone-to ideal throughout American culture.
I brought up terrorists because in general, illegal immigrants have not threatened our nation. Yet we keep hearing "Defend the border!" as if terrorists are spilling over it. They're not. The only folks spilling over the border are the gardeners and dishwashers rich folks use for cheap labor.
Gardeners, Dishwashers, Drywallers, Framers, Painters, Plumbers, Electricians etc. The list is endless. They just do the work, theres always at least one Citizen there who's licensed to pull the permit but the illegals get all the hours. I know tons of Natural born or legally immigrated individuals stuck working day labor or craigslist gigs who would love a chance at a steady paycheck performing skilled labor in trades which used to be worked by the middle class and are now done for a fraction of the cost by people without legal right to be here. To clarify, there are Americans on Public aid because there are illegals here doing the job's Americans should be doing. So for the sake of WalMart prices on labor, you're willing to sell out your fellow countrymen, get the fuck out.
The best fence that money can buy is a simple sign saying "No Jobs Available." Arrest the greedy Capitalists. .
I dont like to assign political labels to myself, I think its being really close minded to follow party lines on every issue, but my political leanings are closest to that of a libertarian. And I think that borders should be open, to a certain extent. It should be easy for Mexicans to come here legally and make a living. This is the ideal that America was founded on. Our entire country was built on the backs of hard-working immigrants, and this melting pot culture has only enhanced our country, in my opinion. If a Mexican wants to come here legally and make a better life for themselves and their family, I think America should make the channels they have to navigate as easy as possible. with that said, legal is the keyword there...and thats really more for their protection than ours. Illegal immigrants are too easily exploited. I think a lot of the immigration debate is all political posturing and conjuring up a wedge issue to polarize voters and send more votes a certain way. Republicans are the most vocal in the immigration debate, yet you know rich, right-leaning politicians LOVE cheap, exploited labor. Most of their businesses thrive because of cheap labor and illegal immigration. On a personal level I would be willing to bet money most republicans, especially the business owners, do not truly want to stop the influx of illegal immigrants because when they come here legally they must be offered benefits and competative wages, and what cut-throat businessman or woman truly wants that?
absolutely. I've been saying that for years. Its human nature to strive for the best life one can obtain. We as a society can't condemn Mexicans for wanting to come to America and make a living...if I lived in Mexico, had no way to feed my family or even find clean drinking water, I would certainly try to come to America. This does not make them criminal. The only criminals in this debate are the people providing them with under the table jobs.
