When I say rock your gypsy soul, I'm talking about the *dance floor*. Could be at a club, could be in your living room. What music just MAKES you HAVE to dance? I mean, "I can't sit still, I have to dance!!!" music? While there's a thousand I'm sure, the two songs that come to me immediately are: Mixed Bizness by Beck (Gawd, he's sexy!) Greenman - XTC (brings out the pagan in me) So, what rocks your gypsy soul? *Anyone know the song I'm referencing?
songs that make me want to dance: "Volunteers" by Jefferson Airplane "Touch Me" by The Doors "Whiskey Bar" by The Doors "Down On Me" by Big Brother and The Holding Company "Scarlet Begonias" by Sublime "Tell Me Bout It" by Joss Stone "Sunshine Superman" by Donovan "Feeling Groovy" by Simon and Garfunkel "Subterreanean Homesick Blues" by Bob Dylan "Red House" by Jimi Hendrix "Curbside Prophet" by Jason Mraz "Oj Oj Oberek" by Ray Budjilek and The Cleveland All Stars (yes, i love polka and i am polish, so?) there's more i just don't feel like typing anymore right now.. =]
There's just too many to name. But there's a certain mystical power to Loreena McKennitt's "All Soul's Night" that just lifts my feet off the ground by itself and makes me flow and sway. And I believe the answer to the song you referenced is "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison. Another one that gets me up and swaying, eyes closed, being extra attentive to the feeling of wind and my feet on the Earth. Music is magic.

If I achieve just the right level of various inebriants and chemicals in my body, the strands of any fine music send me utterly soaring...be it classical covers, thumping industrial or dance, smooth southern rock...
Yup. I can swoon and sway to Frank Sinatra's "Last Dance", but then again stomp to XTC's "Greenman" - then do the "Hustle" to the appropriate disco tune. Yeah, it's all good.
