http://www.mirror.co.uk/showbiz/frontpageshowbiz/2007/12/31/led-zep-for-festival-89520-20270256/ according to the above website, The Zepsters are already signed up to Headline. Think this will generate a bigger intrest than usual? Will that bring more trouble as well as more good times? Discuss.
Oh shit. There goes all the money I've made this Christmas. Well... to be honest... I might just save the money and spend it on several small trips. I like shows, but I'd much rather go out to nature with some friends. Plus... sweet Jesus, Roo is expensive.
This comes as absolutely zero shocker. It's been a floating rumor for some time now. That's cool though. I enjoyed JPJ @ the Suprjam last year, though I don't think even Led Zep is worth a returnng trip to the Roo.
I would want to see Zeppelin after seeing some youtube footage of their reunion, but I will never go to Bonnaroo, so I surely hope they play some other places
You do make a good point... and I actually get shit from people for making it. There is absolutely nothing hippy about Bonnaroo other than the fact that there are a bunch of neo-hippies tripping their balls off over there. It's an over-commercialized, over-crowded festival... I prefer small independent stuff myself. It kinda weeds out the idiots. Plus, I'm really not into the whole "Lets take 10 hits of acid and pass out in the dirt...man" thing... I'd rather watch live music stoned, if anything. The whole explosion of psychedelia seems to distract people from actually enjoying the music. Every single story I've heard from someone who went to Roo always includes a part when said person was too fucked up to go to a certain show or something among those lines... even though everyone also seems to have great experiences. They do get some amazing bands to play there. I'd go to Roo if I could afford it... but I think that I'd rather save money for smaller festivals if I truly plan to hip out.
I think I'll go to roo this year. I've never been, so I'd like to go to see what it's like to be amungst that many people... all in party mode. Yea it may be expensive, but you do get to see a LOT of good bands for the price. I at least want to experience roo one time, and if Led Zep is gonna be there that's just more motivation for me.
I went to Bonnaroo in 2003 and 2004....by 2004 it was already getting way too commercialized for my liking... I'll take the much smaller and more kid friendly fests over the Roo any day
last year i think it was 185 a ticket in advance. more the closer to the show ya got. just a thought,,i wonder why led zeppelin would play bonnaroo,i mean there isnt any money in it for them,at least not like what they could make on there own.. think about it,why would they split the proceeds of 80 thousand tickets at 200 bucks a pop between 100 different bands, when they could do there own thing, sell tickets at a average of say 500 bucks a pop an sell out arenas of 40 or 50 thousand, and only have to pay 1 or two opening bands outta the gross.. i dunno, seems kinda fishy, unless bonnaroo tickets are gonna be 500 bucks a pop this year....
that really doesnt seem all that expensive. I would burn double that on gas each way, at least, to drive there. 3 nights in a hotel could easily cost 200 bucks. I dunno, maybe I have gotten spoiled in my old age......
It's pretty damn pricey for a college student. It's like over 200$ per a ticket now. Add the gas money, food money, drug money, and so on to all of that... and you easily get a 500$ investment, at least... not really worth it.
i planned on going to bonnaroo this year. i didnt really want to go, but now that zeppelin might be there.. who knows. my decision has swayed a bit. if it's true what's being said, i dont really want to spend THAT much money on an event like this. i dont have that much (college, etc). i planned on camping. not cause i like camping, cause it's cheap. i hate the feeling of dirty hair.
Oh I I would too, I just meant to contrast 3 days and nights of festival style music to staying at a Best Western. If I went, I wouldnt leave either
