Last night was the second day I havent smoked a cigarette... I'm trying to quit.... and, well, I was really moody. It's like it came out of nowhere, I didn't know why I was being really awful, and mean to my boyfriend but I couldnt control myself, I would be pissed, then sad, then happy, then pissed again... I don't know... it was terrible (and I don't think I have a boyfriend anymore..) So yeah it sucks, but am I insane or can going from a pack to a pack and a half a day to zero really effect you that much? Maybe I'm PMSing, it doesnt seem like I should be that effected by quitting smoking.

you're suffering from nicotine withdrawal, and it can get pretty nasty sometimes because when you used to smoke, you would suppress certain emotions by absorbing nicotine...for example, when you are bored, you will feel like smoking or when you are nervous you will want to smoke too, because it creates the illusion of comfort. But it really doesnt, when you smoke you're actually getting a fix to satisfy your craving and you get a craving when nicotine withdrawal starts. So now that you dont have nicotine in your system, your body is lacking that external element that kept it in a certain state. Nicotine is a powerful drug, its harmful and addictive nature is highly understimated, its amazing how it can still be legal.

Why dont you try chewing nicotine gum, it helps if you really want to give up. another thing you could try are the patches, but i wouldnt really recommend those unless you find it really really hard to resist to your cravings. sometimes keeping your hands busy helps too, its up to you what you do about that though ;)

anyway, if you want to talk about what you're going through send me a PM if you want, i 'd be happy to give you some tips and moral support. I gave up smoking exactly 1 month 24 days ago and i have never felt this good. ironically, it wasnt as hard as i thought you know.

I've heard those nicotine patches work, you might want to try those.

I'm planning on quittting tonight myself. Whenever I quit smoking my tolorance level hits zero for about 3 days. I try to stay away from everyone in my household. They annoy me 24/7 when I am smoking. When I've quit for about 5 days I usually reward myself with more ciggies :&

Edit: Zeppelina beat me too it :D
