    A fucking joke.

For the most part, his lyrics were crap. Shannon Hoon was from the same era and was a genious when it came to poetry/song-writing. Kurt sang about how much life sucked, and his death lead to many kids (who followed him) to off themselves.

I consider him to be possibly the most overrated "musician" of all-time. Well, except for many "punk" bands of today.

I don't really have an opinion about him. I've never really liked Nirvana. Their music bores me.

i do believe that kurt cobain is way overrated...his lyrics arent so good, he wasnt the best guitarest, he was just a role model for the youth of the 90's.

Overrated BUT still in my top 10 list of bands. Yes, people who worked with him in the studio admitted that his "mysterious" lyrics were really just bullshit. That on his first couple albums he just wrote what he thought sounded interesting or poetic, and didn't necessarily have any meaning. However, on his last couple albums he got more serious with the writing part of things.

Also, I think they really got caught up in the media... it's impossible not to. Their live stuff from the late 80's was so unbelievably different from their stuff even on Nevermind, which is what ruined it for them.

Bullshit or not... I love Nirvana. And I agree with the Shannon Hoon comment. I don't know how more people didn't get into him... it was a shame.

I dont think Kurt was very overrated at all. I love nirvana and kurt...i think they r kinda inspirational... his lyrics where often saying how life sucked but if that is what he beleived and what he felt, you cant expect happy, cheerful lyrics! i think he was absolutly gorgeous! R.I.P. Kurt xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Extremely overrated.

he was a fairly good musician...there were better ones at the time I cant think of any names right now.sorry.

I've never cared too much about Nirvana, mainly because I found kurt's voice a bit annoying. They were huge in the grunge scene but I prefer Pearl jam. Their lyrics appeal to me more.

Hes cool, his lyrics and music are cool. Why the fuck are his lyrics crap? and with his skill as a guitarest, i dont doubt he could have written more advanced songs but he didnt and they were still great. people dont always like advanced things, masturbating is a simple thing and yet billions of people do it and like it. i dont think ive heard shannon hoon so i dont believe i should comment on that. if your going to hate nervana hate them for the right reasons, if they werent good then why come they sold alot of albums?

He was a piece of art himself, an anti-glamorous black sheep that inspired a lot of people. Had a great voice and, it seems, a troubled mind... R.I.P. Kurt

Britney Spears sold a lot of albums too, which makes your little "argument" completely obsolete.

I can't think of a better argument to dislike a band than not liking the music. It's kind of self-explanatory, really.

Besides, it's either "how come" or "why".

Huzzah for masturbating though. :) Good pro-Nirvana argument, should remember that one.

I myself only know Smells like teen spirit and it's kind of nice but whenever I hear something else by them it sounds so much less interesting than this most famous song of theirs. Kurt was cute and all but his suicide always makes me think he did it just so he'd be remembered, instead of because he wanted to die. Like promoting himself. Ah well, I don't know much about him so I'm not to judge.

Yeah because shes good at what she does, im not saying i like what she does but why would she have sold that much albums if she wasnt? just because you dont like what she does and/or how she does it doesnt mean she isnt good at it. But as for masturbating and nervana, i was using it to explain how people can like nervana even though they arent playing songs that are very hard and only few could do it, nothing wrong with a simple good sounding song. and why come you gonna be fucking talking about how i should and shouldnt post? why or how come, it doesnt matter i just combined them and you still understood, if you didnt understand you wouldnt have pointed it out.

The people that buy her records are mainly preteen girls that aren't concerned about actual talent but just want a role model and simple feel-good songs. I agree with them partly and have to say that her songs are alright though I don't think she can sing well at all, and not writing your own music is a real put-off for me. I know nothing about technics within music and am widely known for my paradoxal views on more or less everything but I think anyone who does have talent would tell you she's lacking any.

I understood that perfectly, and like I said, it's a good way of explaining. Useful for when I try to reveal the charms of more nihilistic bands I like to people who don't like or know it.

Knowing how to write a flawless phrase is important, for example when you want to apply for a job somewhere. I thought you might want to learn something useful. Mistake on my side, apparently. My sincere apologies.

I believe Kurt Cobain was a very talented songwriter/musician, however, he had very poor taste in women. He led a very sad, drug-addicted life and it's such a waste that he committed suicide. Very sad indeed.

if you're going to sit there and defend a band you like, at least spell their name right...

i love nirvana. one of my favourite bands of all time. i think their music was very original. alot of bands came out of the same scene as nirvana, but they came out with a different sound. and anyone who disagrees just hasn't listened to the music well enough.

the biggest influence on music of the 1990's. At least he got us out of the glam-rock years. But fuck him he's dead now anyway.
