Um... ok. I don't see a big trend of kids listening to classic rock. I'm one of the few young people I know of around here who listens to classic rock. Besides... I wouldn't care if a ton of kids did start listening to classic rock. What would it matter? The great bands have dead members anyway, so I don't really care. The music will always be there regardless of whether or not little Jimmy down the street likes to listen to The Who.

 

It'd be great if more people listen to the classic stuff, but when they say more, do they mean maybe from 3% of teens to 5%, not many people I know other then myself listen to the classic stuff.

i have listend to classic rock my whole life its what i grew up on. i was raised on the doobie brothers, lynard shynard, allman brothers, crosby still nash young, and other band like that...

I've seen more and more people other than my clique start to pick up oldies, and not just people in the counterculture crowd, either. Mostly Billy Joel, Queen, Led Zepplin, The Clash, etc.

 

music now is just not what it use to be. where i live i would say classic rock is more popular then most areas

 

I think it's become this trendy thing (atleast in my area) to listen to old old bands. I don't know more than 4 people who don't talk about Jimmy page constantly, and it gets annoying sometimes. There is awesome music nowadays, people just have to look for it.

Yeah, where I used to live, both in Memphis, Tennessee and in Burbank, California young people have been getting very much into the classic rock for the past few years. It was impossible to find someone who wasn't into it. And Lucifer, yeah, they might be dead membered bands now, but if you're at all part of the music scene in any country in this world you'll see a bunch of retro-revival bands hitting the stage today, which is just great. Here in Iowa, though, people are so into heavy and death metal. It's actually pretty annoying. Hopefully classic rock has a huge renaissance and we'll see some good stuff coming out of the next few years. I, being the way I am, would actually like to see a revival of 80s power metal more, but obviously that's not going to happen! lol

 

Yeah I grew up listening to this stuff!!!I remember my mom & dad,uncles always partied to CCR,Smokey Robinson,Grand Funk,and all that other good stuff.

Todays music sucks!I like some old school gansta rap though,like NWA,Geto Boys,ect...

 

The fact of the matter is, there was good music back when my folks were my age, and there's some good music flying around now, although it's not as popular as good music was back in the day. I have noticed that cool trendy people like the classic rock and real good music of today, while the annoying trendy folk like whatever the radio tells them to listen to. It all boils down to cool people liking cool music. I dig that, and I love that I can listen to anything from Mozart to The Doors to Jeff Buckley to Nick Drake to Coldplay.... it's all available for my enjoyment! That just rocks... way harder than the 80s. And the 80s rocked. Hard. Let's hear it for good music.

 

I'm not actually sure if young people like oldies or not, cause when you say here, in my town, for example Keith Moon, nobody, who's as old as me, knows him.. you know.. (just one my friend...) but I think that the young people finally prefer the real music more (I say "real music".. but it's just my opinion) , I mean playing guitars etc, than rap, hip hop and the other things like that, and that makes me really happy.

 

I don't think that "retro-revival" bands hitting the stage "is just great." I'd rather hear something NEW that is just as good as classic rock, but not the same old stuff. I don't care what clothes they wear... I care about what music they create, and if it's rehashed shit, then no thanks.

Joking aside, not that many kids like it here. When I say kids I mean early teens, more people in their late-teens seem to like it. Although we just got rid of a top-40 radio station and it's now been converted to "rock" (which appearently includes new and old stuff). There are almost as many oldies and classic rock stations as there are country stations. And old drunk people singing along with classic rock radio... nothing better.

 

I fucking hate them. I see them all the time too. They listen to classic rock, like pink floyd, the doors, Led Zeppelin and... .... ....nope, that's it, Pink floyd, the doors, and Led Zeppelin. Seriously, I hate kids like that. They walk around with that shit eating grin on their face with their fucking sandals and their designer broken in jeans. They act like their hippies, but they're not. They're the same assholes they were last year, and the year before that. I swear, these people take anything good and honest in the world and rape it till it fucking bleeds to death and dies. I feel like they've invaded my space. These people that I hate so much, now "enjoy" something I do, it's disturbing. Not only that, but when you see them do these things... you talk to them, and realize that they have'nt change. They've visually changed, but it ends at that. They're still the same people who made fun of me in gym and kept knocking my books out of my hands in the hall. I hate them, I think they should give us our music back.

 

Guitar God was right, it's becoming sort of a trend as I can see. I started listening to stuff like the ramones and the clash before 8th grade. In 9th grade I got obsessed with Pink Floyd. It's funny how you just fall into new music.

 

I actually think its cool when younger people start listening to classic rock. There are lil' dudes in like 1st year at school with ' The Clash' hoodies on and stuff. I think its really sweet and the thing is most of the ones i know do actually know what they are on abt!! I do however agree that there are folk who ruin good trends coz they are so fake and you know they have no clue what its all abt!.....the worst ones are the silly girls that try and be all rock chick and shit and they sit on their backsides and listen to Justin Timberlake!!!( bleugh!!!!!!) Its just wrong man and it has to be stopped!!! grrrr!!
