With all that good music coming out of Australia,no kid rock. Not being a hip-hop fan per say,KR is a musical education touching all bases bringing me into the hip-hop scene, not forcing it on me.The songs ranged from the Stones"Jumping Jack Flash"to Dobie Grey's"Drift Away",which(suprisingly)the younger crowd knew all the words.Dobie Grey was one of first live shows that i've been to(Odessey in Berkely72')and the Kid's version really hit the spot.

One year olds.Fantastic, before you know it,they'll be three and fiercly independent.Speaking that twin language that only they'll understand and don't rule out conspiracies.

    Drift Away
    (Dobie Gray)

Day after day I'm more confused
Yet I look for the light
    Through the pourin' rain
You know that's a game that I hate to lose
    And I'm feeling the strain
    Ain't it a shame

Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I want to get lost in your rock and roll
    And drift away
    [repeat]

Beginning to think that I'm wasting time
    I don't understand the things I do
The world outside looks so unkind
    Now I'm counting on you
    To carry me through

Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I want to get lost in your rock and roll
    And drift away
    [repeat]

And when my mind is free
You know a melody can move me
    And when I'm feeling blue
The guitar's coming through to soothe me

Thanks for the joy that you're given me
I want you to know I believe in your song
Your rythm and rhyme and harmony
    You've helped me along
    Makin' me strong

Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I want to get lost in your rock and roll
    And drift away
    [repeat]
    Na, na, now won't ya
Won't ya take, oh ha ..take me

    i dislike kid rock.

it seems the band just throw anything and everything that might be cool to make money.

They are doing everything the opposite of what usually falls into rock

There's many reasons i shouldn't like KR.They are out for the money, but who really isn't.Do you plan on working for free. Then again, though not always true, the money will follow the talent. As far as any and everything, his musical range is very eclectic. What's wrong with that?i like the fact that they're doing the opposite of what usually falls into rock. That's what rock is about. It's better to burn out then it is to rust.Re creation not recreation. As far as disliking them, get all of that shit out of your head and just listen to the music. If you still dislike them...well then i guess you just don't like them.
Saw Shelby Lynne Saturday night check her out.A lot less commercial, but still lots and lots of talent.

heh. music is a lot like marmite - u either love it or hate it, usually irrelevant of talent.

Yes I'm prepared for all sorts of "double trouble"... I can see that one of them is going to be fiercely independent and he will be quite a handfull (sp). The other one's a teddy bear who loves cuddles but he loves getting into trouble too.

I agree with what you guys said, a musician's image or reputation tends to overshadow any talent they might have. It's pretty silly when you think about it. Here's a very extreme example (particularly since they weren't musicians per se) but find me a person who would be caught dead in a New Kids On The Block t-shirt in 2006. (They had some pretty good hits circa 1990)

Anyway, I'm straying off topic here... Dr Phil likes KR so he's okay with me hehehe... (not being sarcastic - I'm a Dr Phil fan)... Drift Away is an old classic that is always on the radio, plus it was re-made about 5 years ago by a dude called Uncle Kracker (it was a duet with Dobie Gray actually)
