    Dear Mr. Congressman

    My name is Steven ******

I doubt that you are actually going to read this email, but just in case you do, I would like to tell you how Marijuana has helped me.

In 2002 I was Diagnosed O.D.D. (oppositional defiance disorder). I was on a number of prescription drugs that did nothing but turn me into a zombie. Due to this lack of energy and what-not my grades in school dropped.

After my grades dropped I lost all hope of being able to graduate. I became very depressed and very aggressive towards my family. My mother had to call law enforcement on multiple occasions because I had gone out of control. The fact is I could not control myself.

After the 5th of 6th incident with the law I was invited over to a friends house. He offered to let me try marijuana, and I accepted. This is where my lifelong friendship to this plant began.

After I started smoking marijuana I noticed that I would get less agitated less frequently. In other words I was a lot calmer all the time.

Due to the deep thinking that I can do when I am "high" I came to realize that I had made a mistake about dropping out of school. After I realized this I immediately starting looking into home-schooling and adult high-school programs.

I am currently enrolled in Citizens High School and I hold a full time job to help pay the bills in the house that I live in.

Did you know that by fully decriminalizing marijuana possession the state of North Carolina could save millions upon millions of dollars each year. That money could go to programs to keep children from dropping out of school and making the same mistake I did.

All I ask of you is to bring this issue to who ever it takes to get the ball rolling so to say. By doing this you could change a number of peoples lives.

Thank you for your time and I hope to see something happen about this issue in the near future!

    Sincerely,
    Steven ******

you might want to have had someone proofread it. but its a nice letter. hope they pay attention, you make some good points, and more people speaking out on the issue is a good thing.

No way! I got a psycho-analysis one time and they said I have ADD and I might have a bit of ODD. Never heard of anyone else that actually had ODD. Anyway, pot does kinda chill you out if you smoke it for a little while. I noticed my grades were getting slightly better too a few month after I started smoking.

Great. Now get all of your friends to write letters to him about how it has helped you and how they see an improvement in your life and their interactions with you.

you have to make a point of ALL the points, not just marijuana. otherwise they'll just think you are a pot head trying to get it legal. you have to be a concerned citizen about everything.

If I was the congressman, any chance you would have had of me even taking a glimpse at the email was lost with your opening statement...

Send a letter. It shows more dedication to it; anybody can send an e-mail.

That's what I was thinking. There are a few other things in there I wouldn't say, but I didn't want to spoil the fun so I just kept my mouth shut.

Yes, I wasn't going to say much about this either.

But honestly, and I do mean honestly.

Writing your congressman is a complete waste of your time unless you attach a couple of thousand dollars to the letter with promises of more.

instead of telling him the state of NC will save millions and millions of dollars, you should tell him how. you need to explain everything.
not like he even read it anyway. good try though.

Yes, get actual figures and everything. Figure out how much it costs for the government to fund anti-drug programs and all those kinds of things, and just crunch a couple of numbers. If he does read it, it will make a difference.

I want to write a similar letter to Tim Pawlenty. He will have a medical marijuana bill on his desk soon, which he will almost positively veto. too bad for MN
