Hello everyone. This forum has come up many times in the past years while searching for things on our beloved 'google', so I finally decided to join up. I have just moved near the Devonport area, from Queensland, and I am looking to connect with some like minded people. Just putting my feelers out to see if there is anyone else on this forum in this area?
Hi Ziggy. Somerset, have not visited out there yet, though I have only been here for just over a week, so you will have to give me time :2thumbsup: I had family who used to live in Wynyard, and that whole area was stunning. Thanks for the really quick reply. I was thinking that there was possibly no one down here as I did a search in the forums for Tassie and could only find two threads How are you anyway Ziggy?
Yes my family is from Wynyard plus I only live about ten mins away, it's beautiful here. I'm quite amazed actually, pressing new posts on this America dominated forum and seeing Tasmania come up lol. How is Devonport treating you?
Devonport is treating me well, I am actually living in Port Sorell, but work in Devonport. I managed to score a job before moving (well I would not of been able to move until I got a job), and have been working everyday bar today since I have arrived. Very different to Brisbane but I have always hated the city. Only thing that saved me up there was the fact that we had land, so I could hide out at home to try and escape the rat race.
Hmmm, live in what especially nowadays is one of the luckiest countries in the world, but dont move to near a nice little beach in the tropics or subtropics, move to somewhere where you are going to freeze your ass off 9 months a year. Sounds like a plan Tasmania: I dont care how pretty it is or how great the food is, its just too fuckin cold
Agreed it is a lot colder that brisbane, but I am looking to get into conservation work eventually, and the heat was killing me up in Brisbane. I have not experienced a winter here, but like when I was in england, layers, layers and more layers. I am hoping it will be all good. And I am right next to a very pretty little beach, have not gone swimming yet though
Ziggy - I am sure I will appreciate the warmer days more that I did. I did see snow on top of one of the mountains about two days ago while driving to work, that was a first for me. It made me feel like a 3 year old kid again.
Haha you will love Tasmania I will compile a list for you tonight of things you should check out, you will be amazed at it's pure beauty
my mother used to live in Devonport, she's now moved to a place called Railton, at one point me an mine was gonna move out there to live near her but i found out i cant get in cos of certain complications, well i could possibly go for a visit, but to be granted immigation status is another story.
Ohh, I have ventured to Railton on a previous trip to tassie. It would still be nice to visit, even if moving is off the cards.
Ziggy - I can't pm you yet, cause I don' have enough points, I see that you are online, so I am quoting your post and hope you get a notification. Anything on that list yet? I have my first day of this Saturday, and trying to work out what to do
That's awesome you're liking it so much! we will have to go for a drink or something! have you been to any of the pubs yet?
No, I have not been out at all. I don' know anyone lol. I am working at the aquatic center and have been pretty much working every day since I arrived. I would like very much to have a drink with you though!
oh fantastic! haha i haven't been there since i was a kid we should absolutely go for a drink, do you use msn?
