just found out dad smokes weed

i dont know how i should confront my dad about this, i mean i want to, i dont think i'll tell him i smoke as well, but i would like to talk to him about it. well heres the story, so today i was moving my dads truck and a pack of cigarettes fell out from the visor. he recently stopped smoking cigarrettes, and told me yesterday he only had one left in the pack for emergencies, so i decided to check. what i found was one normal cigarette, and one of those metal hitter ones, as well as what i'm sure was weed, i didnt smell it to check, but it was green so it couldnt have been tobacco. anyways, so i would like to talk to him about it but idk how to bring it up? should i even bring it up? and advice would be much appreciated i feel so sneaky knowing this secret lol

well i dont know for sure if it would go that far, thats just a guess, but i know she'd be really mad, cuz she never wants me "hanging out with that crowd" and she was pissed that my dad gave my half sister 100 bucks cuz she's broke right now, and my mom was like "shes gonna buy drugs with it, thats stupid" yeahhhh lol so idk what to do, i would never tell my mom about it cuz thats just not right to do and i think my dad is awesome lol

 

my mom is pretty straight edge, like if she drinks its only one drink, so yeah, i'm sure she has never even touched any drug or been around them or anything like that, so i know it would be an issue if she found out, i kinda wanna help my dad hide it better cuz he did a bad job at that obviously lol

 

Why do you feel the need to talk to him, unless your gonna try to talk him into stopping.

 

i dont mind at all that he smokes, but i dont know why i want to talk about it with him, i just have a feeling that i want to talk to him about it, but i have no idea why

yeah i guess, maybe its because i've suspected he did, because he does act weird sometimes, he's from the 60's, so maybe i'm just excited that i have proof now and i know for sure that he does

there was a similiar situation with another girl on the forums, and her dad blamed the weed on her to the mom.

wow, well i dont think my dad would do that to me, that would be just horrible of a parent to do. i am not going to tell my mom that he does though, and i doubt he would tell her he does, unless she found it herself theres a very low chance she will know about it

 

I wish my dad smoked, it would make him relax.

 

yeah i wish my parents smoked also, atleast a little bit.

But i wouldn't tell your dad that you know he smokes unless you feel the need to, i guess if things are going alright right now there's no need to really change anything.

i have no idea, i think when he does smoke if my mom is around he drinks as well to cover it up, maybe he just does it whenever shes not around, i dont know, i'm quite surprised that he was able to hide it so long too lol

 

try to catch him doing it and spark up a conversation about it.but gaurantee him that he can trust that you wont tell your mother.i wouldnt come right out and tell him you smoke until he askes if you do.

 

or maybe let him catch you lighting up and see what he says..

 

I've always wanted to present my parents with a J on a quiet evening and see how things go, but I don't think its their style.
If I found the pot in my dad's possession, I would keep that knowledge to myself, while trying to figure out more about the situation. A parental sesh must be epic.
