So I packed a bowl of two roaches and some pretty good outdoor and found on the bottom of my lighter the tiniest bit of opium resin that musta been there from the last time I smoked it, which was my first. I smoked it and came in and chilled, but I've just been sitting here now looking at pictures of galaxies and space and it's been tripping me out thinking about it. That and I've been listening to "Atom Heart Mother" and now "Meddle"... thats definitely helped. So yeah, Here are some of the best I've seen so far:

Go into the section "News Center" if you want to read the science behind what you see, its crazy to read about how huge these things are in space.

And the chalenge is that I want to see if anyone know what the Thread title is from.

    2001: a space odyssey.

Great shots, man. It's crazy when you think about all of that shit being real and not just some special effects. Absolutely beautiful. I'd love to be shrooming and flying through space.

Nice! Thats my favorite movie of all time. I'm definitely going to shroom to see it next time =D

I'm thinking evolving into a star child is really the way to go. So now I guess we just sit and wait for the monolith to show up...

After Dave warps through the wormhole (Jupiter and beyond the infinite) he lives in that little room set up for him by the aliens until he dies, and at his death the monolith is at the foot of his bed. Instead of dying, though, he simply discards his body and evolves to the next level of existence. His choice of body is that of a baby, and thus, he becomes a star child.

Now that he's evolved he can be at one end of the galaxy and simply appear at the other end by thinking of it. Thats how he went from where the room was millions of light years away in the center of some double star thing to just above earth, where he destroys all the nuclear warheads.

I never understood the shit either. It's just a good trip out movie. "TryptaVision" at it's finest. It's one of those movies that you can't understand unless you're tripping, at least that's how it is for me.

I never understood any of it until I read the book. Aurther C Clarke helped write the movie, but in his printed version he does some things a little different. Most of the changes aren't anything major, biggest difference between the book and movie I can think of is that Dave enters the worm hole through Saturn's moon, Iapetus, where as in the movie he just jumps into it from outside Jupiter.

Whats great about the book, is it describes in writing everything you're shown in the film. Unlike watching 20 minutes of monkies bouncing around, the book describes how Moonwatcher's clan is in a fight with One Eye's clan of apes over that little watering hole. When the monolith originally appeared and the apes surrounded it, it was probing their minds and testing, seeing who would nurture the seed of evolution the best, and the brightest among them was Moonwatcher, so the monolith taught moonwatcher how to use tools, which he promptly used to beat down one eye and lead his clan to claim the drinking puddle as their own.

The book really is great, if you like the movie. I garuntee you will understand so much more of the film after reading it. Clarke is a good writer too, its sci fi, but it isn't laden down with lots of technical mumbo jumbo, it reads pretty easy and smooth.

I definitely advise anyone interested to pick the book up and check it out. For those who dont want to read it though, you can watch a pretty spiffy flash animation that explains the movie pretty well. http://www.kubrick2001.com/
