you gotta be kiddin me! Where does it end? One cant choose between these two totally different musicians!

At least make em play remotely the same instrument.

I picked them because they died of an overdose at the same time. They don't have to be similar, I just want to know which of them you people like better. What type of style of music you prefer. But it would be better if they were more similar.

Both were fine - sad to lose - but if I had to pick it would be Hendrix. Just going on like if I had two CD's which one would I play first?

Janis Joplin's music is much more emotional and depressing.

number 1 HENDRIX had far more major hits. number 2 Janis did not play a musical instrument "like a guitar!"

hits don't exactly make one person better than the other, especially not after all these years.

anyway, i voted for janis, evn though it was pretty impossible to choose.

even if hendrix is on my sig...

Janis was a great singer but Hendrix was far more talented in general not mention a inventor of sound on the guitar.

As I said before, you cant compare these two as to who is better, or qualify their existance against each other. They have many similarities, but few comparisons!

Hate to break it, but Janis did play instruments, guitar and autoharp among them.

Janis didnt invent any guitar sounds, but she DID bring vocal mixing and live mic experience to engineers. If you like a screamer vocalist, male or female, thank her sound engineers for the time they took to design for that. It was a new sound when they heard her, just like Jimi and his guitar.

I didnt vote for one over the other, I prefer to kick back and hear the monterey shows from them, and get them both together!

I like Janis, but I am even more partial to Grace Slick's voice.
