I have loved them for a long time and own surrealistic pillow and crown of creation and a few others, anyway I was just listening to crown of creation and thought id get everyones opinion on them. peace
Great album, but I've always liked the first two more. Perhaps because it's slightly more accesible, I dunno. I just love that sound. But I love Crown of creation as well.
It's exactly my point of vue... but with the 2 first i put "Volunteers" too in my favourite...it has that special piano sound of rolling stone wizzard and future Quicksilver, Nicky Hopkins!
i love jefferson airplane and i have ever since i read Go Ask Alice in 4th grade and wondered where the title came from, lol.
I really like Surrealistic Pillow, and Crown of Creation. After Bathing At Baxters is probably my favorite though. I still can't get into their first album or Volunteers, aside from the title track.
good album but i love surrealistic pillow above all, closely followed by crown or after bathing at baxters...cant choose the runner up!
Yes and no. The song was written by Donovan but it was performed by Jefferson Airplane. I heard it from them first and tried to track down the Donovan version and couldnt find one existing. Anyways. The album its on is Bless its Little Pointed Head', which i personally think is the best one, performance wise because its all of their live stuff. Also, not on that album, but a live performance from Filmore of fat angel, Marty says opening the song "This song is written by Donovan, a year or two ago..there was a dog in the studio when he was recording, his name was Jefferson Airplane..so he wrote a verse to the dog..its call fat angel" From this Im getting this song was of course written to his dog but pretty random, although amazing. haha. It also got me thinking about if Jefferson Airplane was named after that dog. Although theres a bunch of different ideas. Jefferson Airplane was also a name for a match stick that was broken or bent to hold a roach. Pretty groovy hahaha but its also thought to be that Jorma Kaukonen's friend Steve Talbot thought it up as a Blues Name. But who knows. Anyways...really, listen to this song haha
I love Jefferson airplane, i listen to them as i go to sleep almost every night. The most relaxing stuff in the world, dont care much for starship though. By the way in my drama class a couple weeks ago we had to read nursery rhymes (for some reason, i think it was for memorization skills) and i did Peter Peter pumpkin eater and then my drama teacher says you still have 45 seconds to fill so i did this: One pill makes you larger and one pill makes you small and the pills that your mother give you dont do anything at all go ask alice when she's ten feet tall to the tune of mary, mary quite contrary my teacher wasnt too impressed
Jeff Air are one of my favourite bands. I love all their stuff but I think Crown is one of their best. Psycadellic/trippy/folky-ness. The only modern band that I've found that even come close to being as involving as them would be Goldfrapp, specifically their first album Felt Mountain.
