I don't listen Jazz so much, but i like it. I was on a Jazz festival here in Macedonia and it was so great. There were groups from Netherlands.

Anybody who can tell me few Jazz bands which are the best for u, so I can hear them by the way.

Don Cherry, but good luck finding him. It took me forever to find his stuff, but I eventually got most of it from soulseek. Then I had to reformat my hard drive because it got fucked so I lost it all. Oh well at least I got memories.

I'd have to say Rippingtons and Addison Groove Project (which isn't traditional jazz but have a lot of jazz elements). String cheese incident and Phish too have a lot of elements of jazz in thier music.

Jazz is one of the main influences on rock n' roll. Chicago is an example i know. I listen to Jazz elements in rock music. Also I have heard earlier jazz from the 1910's, 1920's and 1930's.

"Back Home In Indiana" (1917) -The Original Dixieland Jazz Band

(This is the first Jazz record made).

Jazz started out in the Ragtime music (1900's), Dixieland (1910's), Louis Armstrong (1920's), Swing (1930's), Be Bop (1940's), Cool Jazz and Modal Jazz (1950's), free jazz (1960's) and then into Fusion (1970's)

I believe that ELP is an example of the jazz fusion in the 1970's.

I'd reccomend Dave Brubeck. There's a group from the Netherlands that I really like called Jazz To The Max.

Cherry and Coleman were doing free jazz in the 50's though.

Hank Mobley, Paul Desmond (who worked a lot with dave brubek), herbie hancock, john coultrane, Gershwin. And you totally have to check out chick corea, as they are amazing. Return to forever as well..

And the kaval-player from Bulgaria Theodosi Spasov! I recommend you to listen how he mix the bulgarian folk music with jazz!
