anyone seen this horrible movie? It could possibly be the most pointless movie i've ever watched. It is easily the worst war movie ever.

i can't believe jamie foxx was in it after Ray...from oscar to chump.

I think pointlessness was the point.

Indeed, they wanted to show things like they really are, without making up things just to please the public with the kind of action that always scores. Of course, that may be less interesting to watch , but I still think it's a good movie with very good acting. Especially Peter Sarsgaard was brilliant in it. But then again, I've never seen him not being brilliant. :)

Exactly. And I love the subtle touches, like how they are always watching these overtly anti-war movies with this Hoo-rah mentality. This was definitely not a speedy film, but I thought the pay-off of having seen it was worth the effort.

I thought it was great and well done. They took men, washed all all thoughts and inserted the superman syndrome into his brain. Then when all that was worked for in training ended up with then penned up with all that aggression and no place to release it. The scene where they were about to snipe the targets really caught the moment. They seemed to feel almost of no value unless they performed the kill. I mean the target was taken and actually that was the whole objective but they are trained to kill. Was kinda nice to see a more real movie than the usual we kicked ass, blow shit up and all the girls came to us with sex in mind and crap.

I totally understand long times away from family and friends and the effects it can have. It was nice to see (JANE DOE) was not there with a little yellow ribbon baking cakes and waiting for (JOHNNY) to come marching home again Hurra Hurra

It was never intended to be a war movie. Just a movie about the USMC and military life. It is an accurate portrayal according to my boyfriend who spent 2.5 years in the Army.
I think it's a great movie. Very well done, and Jamie Foxx, as well as the other men in the movie, did a fantastic job.

Maybe you were expecting to see people die and shit blowing up....perhaps that's why it sucked so bad?

it was 2 hours of buildup for the sniper scene + 'we're still there'

literally 45 minutes of the movie is them dancing around a fire naked, pretending to fuck each other. I guess i didnt care to see 45 minutes of that, plus another hour of a guy jerking off in a stall, playing football and watching movies. It was overly repetitive. They could have cut 30-45(maybe more) minutes out of the movie and it would have been the exact same thing. Pretty scary when the movie is only 2 hours.

the part that i thought had the most value was when they how the marines personal life goes to hell while they are serving overseas and watching as their s/o's drop em by the wayside once they are gone for a few months.

That's what men in the military do. Entertain themselves. They don't just blow shit up. Try going as long as them without sex....I bet you'd jerk your shit too.

I thought it was well done....good acting by Jake Gylenhall, Peters Sarsgard, and Jamie Fox as well as the rest of the cast. I'm glad it was different than other war/military movies I've seen!

so he gets the message that life in the military can be alot of waiting, being all pumped up and then, Nothing Happens! You felt bored, let down, if you did then you got the point.

I'd be pissed if I was a marine and went to war and never got a kill. I would've taken that last shot cuz he had orders to do it.
