    Anyone have one?

If so, do you like it?

Any experience at all with them?

an IUD is the thing that lasts for like 5 years to prevent pregnancy, right?
if so, i personally would never put something in my body that can alter such a natural thing. I understand people do not want children, but as a personal choice, i wouldn't

I got a Mirena inserted in November. I haven't had a period since. It's probably because I have PCOS as well. I'm pretty confident that with the IUD plus the PCOS, I'm not getting pregnant if I don't want to. I'm probably getting it taken out in June to try for a baby.

why would you do for the low dose estrogen IUD if you want to try for a baby?

Well I'm going to be the odd one out, though I know universally I'm not alone. I have a paragard IUD, the one with no hormones. I do not have any children, and have never been pregnant and other than a mentally deficient nurse at the health department had no issues getting it. I went in informed, and knowing what I wanted and didn't want, and that helped.

I've had it two years, I have not gotten pregnant nor had any pregnancy scares. It is more effective than hormonal birth control, some studies suggest it is more effective than tubal ligation.

It hurt a lot going in, but the midwife I had who done it made it an OK experience.

Knowing what I do about charting fertility now, I would not have gotten it just because it is over kill and unnecessary. However, if I did not chart I would take the IUD over HBC.

I bleed more, but cramp less. I think that's unusual among IUD users, but just a FYI.

I got it inserted when we were thinking it was going to be a couple of years before we tried for a baby. I've done the patch (hated it) and the pill (exacerbated my depression). DF is allergic to latex and the polyeurethane condoms give me yeast infections. The IUD seemed our best bet. I chose the Mirena instead of the copper one because I read that the copper one can increase bleeding and the Mirena decreases it. I plan on having another Mirena inserted after my next baby.
