The grown ups really know how to stick it to the kids during the back to school season.

I saw an old commercial on youtube about two kids and the parents getting into a minivan. The kids are chanting happily, "We're going to the water park. We're going to the water park!"

The announcer says sarcastically, "Oh no you're not. You're going back to school!"

Then the kids see the minivan doors lock shut and notice their lunch bags and all their books in the van and scream, "No!!!!!".

That's because many people (except most kids) know that school is just baby sitting. They teach hardly anything of real value, they don't often teach real history (the truth), and none of your marks up until grade 12 actually matter. They just don't want kids running around wild so they play up school like it really matters.

 

When I was a kid I couldn’t wait to get back to school after 4-6 weeks at summer camp followed by a 1 week vacation with the family

I was like enough already let’s get back to new clothes, new books, goofing off and detention :cheers2:

My two were actually looking forward to school. I think perhaps it was that it was 6:30 am and their sense of humour had not kicked in yet.

 

And driving the teachers crazy. Especially the ones who thought they had the upper hand on everything.

I always hated getting up early as well but there was always the hope that snow had fallen overnight and school was cancelled

It's lovely to go out and not have screaming children running around everywhere. I hate school holidays, so this time of year is wonderful!

 

I used to HATE this commercial when I was younger

Maybe I will come to appreciate it when my son finally goes to school.

i don't have any kids so i don't know the feeling

But The quietness throughout the neighborhood is such a relief

 

We are out in the country so most of the kids are bused to school and any bad weather it is usually cancelled. My guys have the school board web-page on their computers to check in the morning.

We only had one snow day last year and it was because of ice. They were not that impressed as the hydro was also gone for the whole day so they had no computers, TV, water.....they did not like being pioneers.

 

Are you going to take revenge and make noise at night so that they can't sleep?
