Hello again, I'm looking to get in touch with some communities out on the islands of B.C.. But before you click the little reply box & proceed to refer me to Ic.org, I'm not looking for cohousing. I just want to find a simple community looking for people to help them on their farm in exchange for a place to sleep and food to eat! Sounds like Wwoof, right? Wwoof hosts only seem to want you out there for a couple weeks, I'm more so interested in staying for at least few months.

I'm perfectly able to work, and would much rather work on a farm rather than in the oilfields (my most current job). Id love to learn about permaculture and self sustainable living. I'm quiet, friendly, and love playing my guitar and sitar.

If you have or know anyone who has space, and could use an extra hand on their farm, please reply, or pm me! Thank-you :)

    [Edit:]
I guess I'm not picky on where in B.C. I end up. But Van. Island is where Id really like to be as I have family out there id like to visit too.

Most of the places I've WWOOFed, I've stayed for a year or two. Keep searching, bro!
The past few years I've gotten more into helping people set up homesteads than farming for communes, and I've been studying Permaculture through online courses to improve my abilities. I can point you toward some good educational resources if you like.
NCSU offers full university courses in Permaculture for free, and you can find Mollison/Lawton's full course in design pretty easily.
I've stockpiled a wealth of knowledge that's queuing to get into my head, hehehe. It's a pity I can't share it directly, but I can show you where I've found it if you like.

Good luck finding your new home! ^_^

What I do is basically travel around helping people establish their off-grid/alternative homesteads. I do green building, set up alternative energy, and establish organic farms and livestock systems for people who would like to do those things, but don't know how. I guess I'm kind of a freelance Permaculture Designer, without the title. And without the paycheck, of course, hahaha. All the work I do is for free.
There are a lot of people trying to move to the country and make their own little plot of paradise, but they don't have the knowledge or years of experience to make it work. So I provide them with my expertise and my manual labor in exchange for room and board until the project is completed. Then I move on to somebody else's property and start over again.
