I'm growing my afro so that I can get dreadlocks (yay!) but I don't look good with a fro. And if it would just hurry and get long enough to dread (which is 3-4 inches right?) I'll be so happy. I'm thinking about getting extenders put on them after I get them because I don't think it'll look good really short. So is my not looking good with a fro a sign that dreads will look bad on me? I've never seen anyone with dreads look bad but I don't want to break the chain. Lol.
First of all, if you don't push something that's supposed to be natural (say no to 'extenders') you'll look fine. There's just something about dreadlocks, they're always rockin' if you keep 'em clean and let 'em do their thing for a while after starting. Now, if you're aiming at dreads just for the looks, I say think again. Yarr you're 14, but getting comfortable with the general culture is important, just like respecting the dreading journey and getting to know your dreads (you got to realize, that for most people, they represent alot more than just the looks). And about the fro thing, this probably hasn't got much to do with that, now does it? two different hairstyles just dont rush your decisions...if you aint got the time to take the journey and are thinkin about extensions(which look totally out of place most of the time) then you should do some research and find out about the connections between dreads and patience.
I have honestly never seen a single person that did not look good with dreads, its the kind of hairstyle (for want of a better word) that looks amazing on anyone... and come on dreads in the long run look TOTALLY different to afro... just because you dont think you look good with one doesnt mean you wont with the other either...
Check it man: Dreads are EVERY persons natural hair style. Everyone looks good with dreads, once they're mature. Just start twisting that shit up, or leave it alone. Do what you do.
