Yes- I believe that there might be. But it's not going to be another hippie revolution, it's going to be a BibleThumping Beer Guzzlin' Gun Totin' Cousin Fuckin' Militant Revolution. If Barack Obama wins the election, he will be a threat to their way of life. And- they are just not going to let it happen. God~ I hope I'm wrong.

Pretty ignorant generalizations. Obama and McCain are establishment puppets controlled by the same men behind the curtain. It makes no difference which of them wins.

There might be a revolution if people wake up to what I just said in the above sentence, instead of playing into this partisan game they feed you through the media to keep you distracted and unaware of the bigger picture.

You're talking about the leaders and I'm talking about the followers.
Who are going to follow their small little minds and hearts .

Of course there are ignorant rednecks and bigots who hate Obama simply because he is black. I doubt there will be any sort of revolution, though, outside of perhaps backwoods Alabama.

You're getting a taste of it in these mob-like McCain-Palin rallies. As the country shifts from White Christian to a more diverse, secular paradigm (whites will no longer be a majority by, I think, 2040), people are getting scared. Fear shows itself in anger.

I'm a little worried about election day. I'm betting we'll see violence, maybe widespread violence. Old ideologies don't die without a fight.

I also think there could be violence if Obama loses.

Totally agree, PR. Think of how much emotion people have invested on both sides. Whoever loses, their supporters are going to be angry. We scratch our heads at sunnis and shiites, but are they any different than Dems and Repubs? OK, maybe that's not a good analogy. But politics is --or has become -- about as rational as religious fanaticism.

Check out this article PAX, from Newsweek. Scary stuff ...

    http://www.newsweek.com/id/160080/page/2

    Excerpt:

"Given her long affiliation with the Assemblies of God church, Palin very likely believes that Biblical prophecy is an infallible guide to future events and that we are living in the "end times." Which is to say she very likely thinks that human history will soon unravel in a foreordained cataclysm of war and bad weather. Undoubtedly Palin believes that this will be a good thing—as all true Christians will be lifted bodily into the sky to make merry with Jesus, while all nonbelievers, Jews, Methodists and other rabble will be punished for eternity in a lake of fire."

What scares me, is I think that HIPPIES are on that list.

If it does happen, and does come from the 'right', I doubt it will be bible thumpers leading the charge.

The problem for the right wing is, we Americans have very little patients with bomb throwing morons. Just ask any former member of the Weather Underground, they will all tell you th same thing, support for their cause started to melt away as soon as they turned violent. The riots at the 68 Democratic Convention all but handed Nixon the Presidency. This was a lesson the left wing learned 40 years ago, which is why all those anti-war protests during the bush years were mostly peaceful and groups like Black Bloc got thrown to the wolves as quickly as possible. Mark my words, if the right wing gets ugly this summer, they will guarantee more losses in Congress and ultimately send Obama back to the White House for a 2nd term by a landslide.

They've been looking for an excuse for a long time. The health care bill is the best one they're going to get anytime soon.

That will cause some right-wing christians to walk away, but not all of them. Don't forget that most members of the Klan have always considered it to be a christian organization. The power of rationalization is strong.

They keep saying that they don't like Obama's agenda. I believe what they think Obama's agenda is; a black man is finally going to get even for all the shit that has gone down over the years to blacks.

I really believe that the teabaggers are building momentum for one reason and one reason only- there is no resistance. There is no one pushing back. Even the police are being extremely nice to them. You would never had seen anything occurring like this in the sixties. If they were long haired hippies- they would be having their asses whipped. It would be nice to see people going out onto the streets and saying 'we aren't going to take your shit'. It's time for a change.
