I love the coupla times ages ago I saw them live, they were jamming hard. The first time I was very young and could tell the audience didn't expect that. I guess they were just expecting them to play the songs as they were on the album.."Evil Ways" had just come out then.
I saw Santana in the early 1970s. He was touring as the opening act for Eric Clapton. After Mr. Clapton finished his set, Santana joined him on stage and the two of them jammed for about 30 minutes. WOW it was good. Peace, poor_old_dad
One of the best and least known Santana works can be found on the Woodstock 1969 cds...cd #2 cut one, it goes on for about 15 minutes and features one far out drum line, that cat must have had arms of steal to keep on drumming like that..check it out
I love the original Santana lineup the best, back when they were playing all sorts of drums. Carlos is an awesome guitarist anytime but I prefer when he's with a band that rocks hard.
