The term "hard drugs" commonly refers to Heroin/morphine, cocaine/meth, nicotine and alcohol... The term "soft drugs" refers to cannabis, DMT, mescaline, psilocybin, and LSD... Theres this grey area in the middle which usually includes MDMA and caffeine... Ketamine probably belongs to this grey area however which side do u think it leans towards to more? I hear some stories of some rollers and ravers being addicted to Ecstasy but I never seen any of these cases in real life... Even when someone rolls excessively he is never looked down upon or labelled and addict... MDMA is accepted by the majority of recreational drug users these days and alot of people include it in the groups of psychedelics... The highest percentage of drug tried by people across the world is cannabis followed by ecstasy... So MDMA in my opinion leans much towards the "soft drugs" side... Some people even consider MDMA more acceptable than LSD... However when it comes to ketamine, Ive seen alotta lives ruined by it... K heads r even more hard to deal with than junkies, crack heads, alcoholics or tweakers... Do you think that Ketamine might be considered fiendish by some people and frowned upon? I mean do Ecstasy 100 times its fine, do heroin once alotta people are gonna stay far away from u... Does Ketamine have this aura being the only addictive psychedelic? After heroin, cocaine, meth, alcohol and nicotine what drug is more dangerous, more addictive and harder on your body in general? Ketamine or MDMA?

I wouldn't even refer to it as a psychedelic to be fair.
I can't, and wouldn't want to speak from experience; but I've seen people on it and heard descriptions and stories afterwards and it just sounds shit and compressed compared to the mind expansion of peyote, diethylamide or dimethyltryptamine.
I'm guessing the 'hard drug' label is based on dangers and changes caused in the body; causing both (potential for) physical addiction and HARM.
I'd say Ketamine is much more dangerous than MDMA; but fuck them both RIGHT OFF and drob a tab of acid instead.

I mean I don't look at drugs like that ( hard and soft ) All drugs can be used safely if used responsibly. Also, above poster, you cannot even begin to talk/judge a substance without ever doing it, just from "stories"? pfft, if i judged drugs from stories i heard, i would have never tried lsd, mdma, oxy, coke, ketamine, marijuana, and basically everything i've tried.

Although the terms are nebulous (are we talking health impact? Lifestyle impact? Severity of high?), it would seem K would fall into the hard drug section. Chronic use leads to kidney, liver, bladder, and brain problems, I'd say that's reason enough.

I do not, because I base my judgement of this on health impact, and MDMA has only a slightly stronger long term effect on the brain than marijuana.

I totally agree with u MDMA is harder on my body than heroin and cocaine combine... Caffeine is addictive, some say too addictive, so even though its kinda harmless it can cuz caffeinism and ther is a caffeine OD...

i think that u r right in that is a def grey area wen it comes to k. although its funny how diff ppl who use drugs diff see k. my friend who does drugs just to get fucked up thinks k is great and a lot of fun. i have another friend who is a very responsible drug user and thinks k is the dirtiest drug out there(even more than home cooked meth). i think k is a hard drug though since k heads are def really fucked up and addicted. its kinda sad wen u meet them :(. so yea i would classify k as a hard drug even though it is a marvelous drug.

nah ketamine aint nastier than meth... ketamine comes after heroin, cocaine and meth in my opinion... people choose to get addicted to k, however they dnt choose to get addicted to heroin... what i mean is that u have to be an idiot to get addicted to ketamine... however anyone could get addicted to heroin in a sec... personally i think the list goes like this (ignoring legal drugs and RCs):

    hard:
    heroin
    cocaine
    methamphetamine and amphetamines
    benzos
    ketamine and other dissoiciatives
    mdma

    soft:
    cannabis
    mushrooms
    peyote
    lsd
    salvia
    dmt

strangely im into the hard drug category, not into the soft drug category at all and ironically im in a hippy forum...

That's a close call. I'll go with yes. The fact that possession is a felony, tips the scales for me.

Here in the UK ketamine is a class C drug, which is the same as cannabis.
The funny thing is that they're making cannabis a class B and considering bringing ecstasy down from class A to B.
