Is it wrong to emphasize how much smarter you are than others?

Especially if you believe it. If somebody actually openly expresses the idea that their thinking processes are more advanced than those of the "general public" or that unlike the general public they are a "thinker" or a "thinker bee" are they really just a massively insecure dick?

it depends on whether you are asked.

it's a fact of life that i'm smarter than most people, and i don't particularly try to hide that fact. but i also don't go out of my way to point it out, unless someone specifically requests the information. which they don't, because i don't go out of my way to point it out so most people don't even notice.

i'm drunk, but i think that answer was comprehensible. if not, oops.

Similarly I don't go out of my way to point it out, or else I don't try to, but a lot of stupid people seem to think I do, but if I think they're stupid then its pretty hard to hide the fact. Did that make sense?

sometimes you just are smarter than other people, sometimes you just think you are.

 

this depends. i'm sure anyone running for U.S. president cares very much about the opinions of those dumber than themselves, as those opinions are what will get them a prestigious, high paying job.

there's other examples, but i'm drunk and lazy.

 

the way I see it, intelligence is subjective. some people really are smart.. but sometimes, even then, they are misunderstood.. intelligence is one of those vicious cycles. I don't claim to be smart, because people who think they are superior to me, will just call me out on not knowing as much as they do. so ya know. in the end it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, I am an insecure dick in a way but I think my insecurity comes out in irreverence and immaturity and yours comes out in calling yourself a Thinker Bee who exists outside of the dialectic who has done the research. I probably am the pot and I am sorry for being the pot, but I don't project. I usually only get accused of projecting by people that project, which doesn't specifically mean that you are projecting either.

 

Yeah but the person running (if he thinks he's more intelligent than everyone else) is just manipulating the people to get power. Doesn't mean he respects their opinion at all - its simply a tool to get what he wants.

 

Yes, that is why I think it is better to keep the idea that you are smarter than other people to yourself as much as possible, although when you're arguing with people it tends to show whether it is blatant or not.

Being a thinker is passe these days anyway. It's not "cool." What's cool is being apathetic and not caring about anything beyond one's own little world. It's cool to mimic the media's authorized version of a "rebel" put forward by the media-created "culture" in music, magazines, television and movies.

I honestly don't think I am smarter than anyone. There are plenty of people in this world who are far smarter than me. I don't think anyone in their right mind would want me performing brain surgery on them. So this idea that I think I am better or smarter than other people is just wrong. I simply get frustrated by people who do have brains, but don't use them, while attacking people such as myself, who don't think like them (as they accuse me of the same thing).
