Or is it supposed to be more about awareness than the impact of shutting your light off for an hour. Cause shutting out the lights for an hour isn't really a big one. I could take an evening nap before going out and getting drunk on a Friday night.
It's a secret plot, they tell people to turn off their lights so they don't see the elite sending their weapons into space... Honestly though, I think it's more for awareness. It doesn't really save much energy.
The government only has enough funding for an hour to study energy use in the US. We only hope China didn't think of the same idea.
I find it exciting to live in total darkness for one hour. Its definitely for awareness, though...i don't think one hour of darkness really makes a difference energy-wise
haven't heard of it. sounds just as silly as the buy no gas day or whatever that crock of shit idea is
Awareness for what though? We need to build more power plants? Energy isn't infinite? Couldn't you just buy some fluorescent bulbs and skip earth hour? You'd be doing more to lower your energy consumption. Why not buy Fluorescent bulbs day? I heard a rumor it would be obligatory here, which is strange. With all the power outages you'd assume it was just another black out.
I wish the CFL bulbs didn't give me a migraine... I use them because I feel guilty and I do want to lessen my energy usage, but I really find their light to be so very unpleasant.
Time is nothing but an abstract thought meant to rate the amount of decay that we experience on a day to day basis
That was what I meant bringing up the florescent lights. Furthermore, is reducing energy consumption really the point? I mean about a third of the planet lives in abject poverty. To bring them out of this is going to require much more energy any way you look at it. And the population of the earth is probably going to grow till about 10 billion before it starts leveling off. In my mind, this doesn't mean that energy conservation matters. It's researching and investing more efficient ways of producing energy that aren't harmful which matter.
