I have a very low iron count. Does anyone know any natural remedies for this? i was also wondering what the mg count of iron is in raw juiced beets. The web sites I've gone on only list canned beets. Thanks!

Thanks. I'd try liver, but heard it can be dangerous when pregnant because of its high vitamin A count. Is that trrue?

i have been vegetarian for six years & there have been times in the past when my iron was low as well. but there are LOTS of natural things you can do...
cook everything in cast iron pots/skillets. make sure you are getting enough vitamin C b/c you can't absorb iron without it. there are lots of herbs that are high in iron. nettle is especially healing & chocked full of many other vitamins & trace minerals. there is also a great supplement called liq.floradix that is available at most health food stores. or i've got a recipe for a homemade syrup that is similarly high in iron & VERY tasty. i'll be glad to share if you like....
    good luck!

What is wrong with eating beef and lamb? Remember haem-iron ( from animal sources) is more easily absorbed than non haem-iron(from vegetarian sources).

my iron count was low before a blood donation before and the nurse told me to eat lots of raisins. I never checked up on it, so I have no clue if that's accurate advice, but that's what she said. Ha.

hey i've heard raisins as well & supposedly they're even MORE effective when combined with oranges. vit C enables our bodies to absorb more iron from the foods we eat
