I have had insomnia in the past... but its come back... and Its making me so sick... tis a lot worse... I havent slept in about a month for more than an hour at a time.,... I cant fall asleep... and even when I do I wake up eery few mintues... does nayone have any suggestions other than drugs?
um, warm milk with honey in it. Neocitrin (yes, it's a cold medication, but it really just clears the sinuses up and makes people sleepy). Lots of turkey (mmm triptophan). Try listening to really soft music (I like radiohead's kid a album for sleeping, personally). Don't do anything in your bed except for sleep (well, and be intimate) but don't read or eat or anything like that. Go to bed earlier to give yourself some more time to try and sleep. Excercise more. If all else fails, have a glass or two of wine (or other preferred alcoholic beverage), but don't make it a nightly requirement, just when something important is happenign (like a final at 9am on Saturday, yay!)
My boyfriend used to have insomnia a lot -- what really helped him was to masturbate when he wanted to go to bed... Sometimes he's have to do it again as soon as he could rebound, but the orgasms helped him get to sleep. It can't hurt to try, right!
Have you ever tried Melatonin? You can find it in the vitamin section. Dosen't really cost alot, and it has always helpped me and I have suffered from insomnia since I was a teenager. Now I am not taking it now, cause I am pregnant, and don't know if it's ookay to take. It's like natural. This is what is says on the bottle It dosen't make you groggy. I take it about 15 mins before I go to bed, or when I relize that I am having trouble sleeping. It has always worked for me.
I bought this stuff at the health food store that really seems to help... It is called "Sound Sleep" I think, from Gaia herbs. They are the phyto-caps in the glass bottles. Kinda pricey, but worth it!
When I was living in B.C a doctor gave me "Risperdal" and it really helped. It's actually for schizophrenia, but if you take it in a really small dose it really helps with anxiety. You just start at a lower dose and keep moving it up a little bit until you find one that makes you sleep quicker. It's the best thing I've ever used.
My hubby and I swear by cannabis! Couldn't sleep without it. And yes, I'm being serious. We use it medicinally for insomnia, migraines, stomach upsets and tense muscles.
Oh yeah I use it sometimes when I cant sleep... but im a poor college student so I cnat afford it everyday. Its starting to get a little better but not much.
again, don't do anything in your bed except sleep and be intimate. Don't read, don't study. de nada! It makes your brain think that you're supposed to be able to do things other than sleep in your bed. Warm milk with honey helps. Alcohol also helps, but warm milk with honey has less potentially bad things for your body
The only problem with the dont do anything in my bed... is that its my only piece of furniture... Maybe I will have to look in to buying a chair or something
I know what you are going through. I have been up since 2:30 this morning, and it is now 11:40 at night. I fall asleep and then wake up, having night sweats and can't sleep. I don't like to take anything for it, as I am always afraid one of my kids will need something in the middle of the night, and the meds will make me too groggy to deal with it. I have an old bottle of Ambien, but I haven't touched it since Sage was born. If you don't need to worry about getting up with kids, you might want to ask your doctor for a few. You are supposed to take it while already in bed because it works so fast. You use it for a few days, and then, hopefully, the thing which caused the insomnia is over. It did work, but I only took it a few times, and I only took half a pill. I'm too mama hen like to take it right now. LOL. My kid have had the flu this weekend, and I wake up every time someone coughs or sneezes or gets up. Sigh, no rest for the mama. I wish I had a solution, so I could use it, too. If it's been a month, maybe see your doctor, if natural remedies don't work. You NEED to sleep.
i once dated a guy who had these cds called the 'delta sleep system' and they were awesome. it's a set of two cds, but we only really listened to the first one. i don't really know much about them, but they would put both of us to sleep pretty quickly. i found them on amazon, if you're interested: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005BIY7/103-9607330-7575827?v=glance also, alcohol might make you fall asleep easier, but it's not the best way to cure insomnia. alcohol inhibits the onset of REM, so it's not good, healthy sleep.
