have one plant in its 3rd or 4th week growing and a little seedling thats waiting to pop up any day now. this is my first time growing completely solo and indoors so i hope things work out well...using tomatoe food every second watering and have the lights on an 18 hour on, 6 hour off timer. any help and advice would be greatly appreciated and i'll have pics up really soon
thats it 1 and a half weeks ago...the lower leaves have gone brown at the tips, im not sure but i think it may be because it was over watered... thats what it looks like now thats my grow room, im using a wardrobe with a tropical growth lamp (doesnt say wattage) and a small 9v lamp just for a little extra kick i made that myself out of kitchen foil and styrofoam till i can afford something worth using thats the story so far...any tips from more experienced growers, also im using tomatoe plant food every second watering and i have miracle grow too but i dont want to put too many chemicals into the soil so im unsure as to use it or not Edit: sorry for the pic sizes but i really cant be assed resizing them
the small 9v bulb is but thats not going to make a difference anyway, its not powerful enough. iv just checked the plant though and the leaves have completely curled up on the main leaf in the second pic, they havnt shrivelled up or anything just curled inwards if you know what i mean
im not sure wots in ur tomato food but them plants dont look happy im not being horrid lol but the brown crispy bits on the leaves is probably burn from that tom food plus ur leaves are drooping or curling this sounds alot like nute burn!! they should be standing 2 attention could u tell me wots on the back of the tom food there should be tree numbers like this 5-5-6 not those numbers but presented like this that is the n-p-k ratio maybe if its 2 strong 4 ur girls u could dilute it more
plus dont water it 2 much u can pretty much let the pot dry out b4 it needs watering again those roots need air as well as water
no the npk is only 0.2,0.2,0.2 the leaves were brown at the tips before that though and iv only fed it once, to get more air to the plants iv got two tubes going down into the soil with small holes cut in all the way down. im going to stop using the liquid feed though and see how that goes. thanks for the help
i was just thinking of pming you haha, im watering when the soil gets dry on top from now on but i was just keeping the soil damp before that...i'll post a pic of how she (hopefully) looks now
its gone from the second pic to this in 2 days can anyone help her please...i really dont want her to die
its getting 18 hours light a day from a tropical grow lamp and the plant is quite close to the lamp too...getting a better light is needed though but i dont really have the funds for it at the moment thanks to everyone taking the time to reply too. I really appreciate it theres a pic of the little seedling thats just coming up again sorry bout the pic sizes
Omg.. look at that plant.. Nice try young padawan. But I suggest you you invest in a grow lamp, and timer. And a good indoor growing book. Growing Marijuana for Dummies.. Your much to young to be attempting this wtihout knowledge.. You should have not used a fertilizer at that early age.. Straight organic soil for a few weeks, Organic soil should hold enough moisture that watering wouldnt be needed but every so often till roots develop and start sucking up water.
yeah this is the first time iv grown by myself and the fert was definitely not a good idea...iv shared the care of growing a few plants before but i dont think i was prepared enough with lights and things, im using a grow book but it doesnt say anything about fertilisers so i just started using 1/4 doses than what it said on the bottle. Do you think theres any chance of saving it? everyone makes mistakes, guess i'll just have to learn from mine this time
wowsa! looks like a combo of pH issues and soil that is too strong for such a young plant. don't want to be the bearer of bad news but that thing probably won't make it and even if it does it aint going to give much bud at all......id guess less than an 1/8oz. Best bet would be to start over with a new seed. Also if ya can, pick up some cfl's.......the fluorescents with the spiral tubes. I run 2 26W and 2 42W cfl's for my veg/mom cab. This will be wayyy better than what you currently are using. Also, what kind of soil are you using? Are you pH testing your water? Also now you know not to water everyday.......stretch it out, plants that young can usually go 3-5 days inbetween waterings. How i tell when to water is, push your finger into the soil about an inch.......if it's dry down to an inch it's time to water. Once you get into the swing of things you water more on a schedule.
I also have to add that your soil looks to be very dense... there is a good chance that you overwatered, especially considering that you mentioned that you are keeping the soil damp in between watering... next time add the perlite to the mix, it can do nothing but help aeration...
ok, iv been away for a few days but when i checked on the plant today there are new leaves coming up which look healthy. Although the other leaves are dead the plants still growing...im not really bothered about how much weed i get from the plant...i just want to grow it to see what works and what doesnt and how i can make sure not to make any mistakes with future plants
last time i really wasnt prepared, now iv got a 220 watt grow/bloom purple light on the way, 200watt hps bulb. ph test kit, ph up/down, thermometer, hydrometer and air purifier fan. Until that comes im just using what i had before but its looking much healthier than my last attemp and im also using Todd McCormicks grow book so now im a bit more organised and prepared i think i'll have a much better chance at a successful grow. Was using tap water till now but after today i will be using river water from behind my house. If thats a bad idea then let me know, will have a pic up in a few mins and please can people give me advice with this, im 16 so im not experienced at all with this but im a quick learner. Prices are getting ridiculous here and i refuse/cant afford to keep paying extortionate prices for flowers off a plant. Thanks to all of you to offer your advice Edit: ok here it is, sorry for pic sizes, same set up as last time, will have the new equipment in the next week or two. that light on the right isnt doing much, just softening the light a bit. Its just a 30 watt flouro and the main light doesnt say what wattage it is which is very annoying but the seedling looks ok so far so i think i'll keep it like this for the time being, till i get my proper stuff. Advice greatly appreciated
